I used my original Skytrak for 18 months and finally got too frustrated with it (red laser quit working, can't read putts, other issues). I pulled the trigger on a VX and love it. Very simple to use. I don't need to take anything outdoors and wanted something for gameplay (TGC 2019) during the winter. I wanted the XO but couldn't justify the cost. I have had some "non reads" on my driver and Protee support has been very responsive. I think it is something with my lighting and driver shine. The no reads are very rare. The gameplay is so much better with the VX.
