I'm planning out a new build, and looking for feedback/suggestions. I am hoping for the space to do triple duty - as a golf sim, home theater, and some space in the back for a desk/office. Layout is below. The "rug" in the picture is meant to depict the hitting area, the far right wall is 14', and the ottomans above/below the hitting area are additional seating like bean bag chairs that are easily moved.
For the sim, I'm thinking the full-wall screen from Carl's place, with the ceiling padding, and curtains on the sides (mainly to retain the windows on the left wall when facing the SIM, and then consistency for the right side).
I don't have any electronics picked out, but for budget reasons, will likely start with a used original skytrack, as they can be picked up around $1000, and I can always upgrade to a different unit later. Ceiling height will be about 9.5' (still need to measure my swing; it's a new upstairs room, splitting a high-ceiling room into 2; every inch I add upstairs, I lose that inch downstairs).
Please provide suggestions on anything, but specifically, I'm looking for tips on figuring out placement of the projector mount, lighting, flooring/putting green options, hitting pad/strip that minimizes risk of injury/discomfort from hitting on a pad. Also, if there's any experience with dual-purpose sim/theater setups, where to install speakers, and audio recommendations.
I'm having a contractor build the room itself, and ideally, I save myself the time and just have him do the screen and flooring as well, unless ya'll strongly recommend I DIY it. I could DIY it, but feel like if I mess anything up I'd beat myself up over it, vs. holding the contractor accountable to fix it until it's just right.
