  • Golf simulator flooring feedback/help

I am building out 15x20-25ft turfed area. My current plan is to use the Sig pro Softy insert as I want something that is realistic but not hard on joints. The only issue with this is that it is 2-3/8" so I need to build up the flooring to match that. My plan to get to the 2-3/8" thickness is to use:

This 1-1/2" thick foam mat as a base layer for sitting on top of the concrete floor.

Our Grapple MMA mats are used for mixed martial arts, BJJ, Judo, and Jiu Jitsu dojo floors and deliver the highest quality product while still being sold at affordable prices.

Glued on top of the foam would be this 7/8" turf (or some other 7/8" turf depending on what I find cheapest)

The foam mat and the turf should add up to the 2-3/8" height I need. The Sig pro hitting strip would be placed in a cutout part of the foam/turf. Would I need to glue or velcro the hitting mat down or should it be fine without? Will the mats I selected along with the turf dampen the impact of the golf balls enough.

Any recommendations or advice is appreciated.

My setup is somewhat similar. I used the black puzzle mats as the base layer and then put padded batting cage turf on top.

I've got a Holy Grail hitting strip and cut out a hole in the mats and turf for it. All the thicknesses were sized so the strip sits flush. The Holy Grail comes with velcro strips that I just attached to the concrete floor.

I did not glue the turf to the mats. There's no need, it's plenty heavy enough.

This works great to dampen the balls landing and feels like a spongy fairway when walking on it. I've got no complaints.

I sell 1.5" thick mats from Meister and quite a bit cheaper than those mats you linked. I've used the Meister mats for a few sim builds and they're great. I also sell 2" thick UltraBase panels that are excellent and after you add putting turf that's 3/8" or 1/2" thick, the SIGPRO Softy stacks up perfectly. The UB panels are similar in price to the Greatmats you linked. 7/8" thick putting turf is a bit "special" as most are 3/8" or 1/2" thick. I sell turf from Synthetic Turf Intl. NP45 is the same as MoneyPutt.

I'm interested in this as I've been looking for a solution to incorporate a Sig Pro Softy hitting strip. Would I be able to cut the UltraBase panels where I need the hitting strip or is there a different way I'm not thinking of? I need to cover 11' 2" x 14'. Also, from time to time I'm going to need to remove and reassemble the flooring as the room is occasionally dual use. Would that be too big a job? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I was going to build my turf way up to work with the SigPro or the Fiberbuilt, but decided to build the new version of Pixelgolf's mat. There are some crazy benefits to doing so...

          • Will match your turf perfectly (because you are actually using your turf to build it)
          • Much cheaper than the other options (I think it's around $100 and rebuilds are almost nothing)
          • Only need to build up 1" of padding below turf (which is plenty)
          • You can rebuild whenever it wears out for practically no money (few dollars)

I also have a 15' x 25' area.Just by trimming my area, I probably have enough turf leftover to remake my hitting mat 20 times opposed to spending $200-$350 on hitting mats.

A Great soltuion for the flooring would be to go with your eva tiles, topped off with lowes carpet padding with the moisture barrier facing upwards. lowes.com/pd/Leggett-Platt-11-11-mm-Rebond-Carpet-Padding/1000683295

You can top that off with camry carpet(This stuff is extremely popular to add the putting aspect, and the combo with the padding + Camry putting carpet eliminates bounce back and sound! Its also a fraction of the cost of any artificial turf solution + you get to putt and chip all year round on a 11.5 speed and true roll. We got the carpet from camrygolfgreens online store.
