Height of screen vs swing area height

I understand it’s ideal to have 9ft where we swing the club. Assume that I have 9ft where I swing club(I’m 5 10), also from screen to hitting area I have about 25ft to use. Now because of angle I can mount only a 86” height screen.. will this be an issue? Except for lob shots wonder if 7.5ft is enough for screen height. How far or how close should the hitting Matt be placed? Thanks for input in advance

The lower the ceiling, the more the ball hits the ceiling. This is fine as long as the ceiling is prepared to handle it.

I am a big "Draw a picture" kind of guy. Here is a quick web site to draw the triangle in question: Triangle Calculator From a 10' hitting position (pretty common) you need to get a 60 degree lob wedge up > 36 degrees (which is pretty std 60 degree launch angle actually +/-) to hit your ceiling. From 8 feet (kind the closest most are comfortable) you need to get the wedge > 43 degrees.

Bottom line, you should be pretty good for everything below a 60 degree wedge ("sky'ed" shots aside) unless you are opening up the wedge. Would plan hitting position around 9 feet or so IMO. And, per mthunt - put some protection up on the ceiling - gym tiles etc.

I can tell you for certainty, unless you are the only one hitting in there, you will have people who launch shots way higher. I coach HS golf for both boys and girls and also have friends who have terribly high LA's and they hit my ceiling protection before the screen and my hitting spot is about 9-10' away. So as mentioned before, if you prepare now to protect the ceiling you should be fine.
