UK Garage Builld - should I bother?

    Hi all,

Glad I've found this forum and hoping for some advice from some knowledgeable folks.

I've recently purchased an R10 for use at the range with a view to setting up something in my garden if the weather here in the UK ever gets any better!. However, this has got me thinking as to whether I could set something up in our single garage. As the kids are older teens, we've the opportunity of having a clear-out, so all that would be in there would be my golf gear, some shelving and garden stuff eg lawnmower.

The garage itself isn’t that big, one of these modern builds with low joists. Measurements are Length 5.5m (18ft), Width 2.9m (9.5ft), Height 2.3m (7.5ft), the joists run width ways. Clearly, I’d need to do something with the height which is a possibility, although I’ve no idea regarding cost.

Am I barking up the wrong tree, thinking I can get something set up in there? Would the R10 even work? I’ve got a Spornia 7 net so that should fit.

    Thoughts or inspiration welcomed.

    TIA

That’s a pretty tight space and not nearly enough height. I wouldn’t bother. Trying to add height is going to be very pricey and a waste of dollars if you’re just using a net and R10

I agree with Sixmudd - at 9.5 feet wide you would need to be so far to the right side of your space to ensure clearance that you would be uncomfortable to say the least. Also at 7.5 feet, while you may get wedges and short irons in play you run the risk of morphing your swing to adjust to the height - not ideal. Your length is great though - but given the height/width you might be better off saving for a rebuild of your garage if that is even possible .....

My 1930's garage is 20x11 feet and that is tight. This garage also serves as a poll cabana so there is a lot of stuff in there making probably 9 feet wide. I do have 9 feet of height though. Swing everything but driver
