  • New member 👋🏻, sim build in progress! Worries....

    Hi everyone!
I have spent quite a lot of time looking for conversations about the worries I am having with my new build. Unfortunately, although I have found a lot of useful info, it doesn't cover my exact problem. I'm sure it must be a regular problem so I apologise in advance if it's been covered many times before.

I'm in the UK, working in metres, but will approx convert best I can!

My newly built room is 7.2m long (approx 24ft), 3.8m wide (12'6"), 3m tall (10')

    I have purchased a 1.5m (5') square 'Foremat 3D Premium' stance mat.
My screen is purchased and on the way to me now (Golfbays Pro+) which is 3.6 x 2.7m (12' x 9')
Projector...not yet purchased and flexible on positioning to a degree.(advice welcomed, in the £2k region I guess)

I have a Mevo+ which I actually purchased 2 years ago, thinking I was clever saving £450 on Black Friday, it's never been unwrapped yet as the job got put on hold....there is now of course the newer one out which I could have got 🙁

My stance mat is 35mm thick and will be let into the new 18mm chipboard and 50mm polystyrene insulated floor to match the height of the rest of the carpet surrounding it, so being sure of positioning is critical. I only want to cut once, and get it right first time!!

So, now you have an insight into my room, onto my problem.

There is no way that I can set up my mevo, with straight line of sight through the ball and to the centre of the screen, it would have to be 2/3 of the way to the right if you see what I mean?
If I position the mat so that ball and mevo line up with centre of screen, there is no way I could swing a driver without hitting the wall behind me.
If I position the mat in the exact centre of the room, the driver ball spot is obviously off to the right of centre line by a good bit, so again, mevo will not be pointing to the centre of the screen. This is surely going to feel really strange in use?

As I say, I'd be surprised if this wasn't a very common problem with limited room width dictating ball position off-centre?!
Do I just reduce image size and shift the image over on impact screen, so the centre is over to the right more? Such a waste of screen size if thats the only fix. I need to be able to use driver otherwise don't really see the point at all...

Appreciate any advice, reassurance or any other thoughts you can offer !!

Ultimately you are going to want to adjust the centerline within the app you are using. Mevo will be set up directly behind your driver line and the the on your screen will be offset to the right. Everything will then be in line.

Thanks for the response, what I meant was that if I have the image full size of the screen, but my 'down the line' is some way right of centre when lining the mevo straight through the ball, I would basically be hitting the ball at the image of the right rough or trees maybe to hit straight down the mevo target line, rather than (attempting) hitting straight down the middle of the displayed fairway for example. If I turn left to aim at the middle of fairway then surely there are going to be some wild misalignment/shot shape issues. Surely it feels wrong and potentially affects the nature of your swing if you have to aim at the trees 3ft right of screen centre in order to send a ball down the middle? Or do you just adapt to it quickly and it not become a problem?
Just seems strange to strike the impact screen way right of where the simulated ball flight will display..?

When you shift the target line to the right the entire image will shift right including the center of the fairway. You will be hitting towards the right side of your screen, not the center.

Ahh, ok. Brilliant, that sounds reassuring, thank you so much!!
