  • Best 4k Projector for Me

I am 6 weeks into my custom garage golf simulator. I will be running the ProTee VX LM and a well built computer (4080 Super). The last piece is the projector. I want to run 4k projection and I want a minimum of 3k lumens. I would prefer a laser over a bulb, but not a deal breaker. Is there anything worthy in the sub $1500 range? Thanks for any help!

Isn't the 710sti the only possibility near that price range? I have one and am very happy with it.

It could be. Was hoping for a slightly cheaper option ($1500 compared to $2000), but might have to bite the bullet.

Please let me know if there is anything else out there. Thanks.

The 700sti it replaced is a little cheaper, but not laser and it would be silly to not spend the extra couple hundred dollars on the new one. Sub $1500 you're looking at 1080P.

That's what I thought, but I wanted to confirm with someone. I am glad to hear you are happy with your BenQ. If you don't mind answering, where is your mounted in relationship to the screen, hitting area, etc.?

My area is 9'3" high (8' screen viewing area) 15' wide (13.5' screen viewing area) and I have 25' of depth. I read that around 11' hitting area to screen is ideal and the ProTee VX LM recommends installing about 3' 4" in front of the hitting area. The BenQ TK700sti recommends I have it installed between 9' 4" and 11' 3" from the screen. Do you know if it would be better to install the projector behind the hitter or in front? Appreciate the help here!

Was speaking with an online BenQ rep. and they mentioned the projector should be around 11'2" from my screen with my sizes. Can I have it directly above or should I move my hitting area up to around 10'? I have read 10-12' is good. Sorry about all of the questions. I just want to get this part right.

My hitting area is 10ft from my screen and I have the projector mounted just behind the hitting area.

I also think the 710 is more flexible than the 700 in terms of distance adjustability.

Excellent advice here and thank you. Was thinking of getting a "better" projector and upgrading to 4k. I have the Skytrak 13 foot setup and am happy with it, but have a lot of overhead light in my building and the GTR2000 fades when any of the lights are on. Its mounted on a bar that comes off the frame about 9 feet from the screen. I was thinking about a BenQ vs an Epson. Unsure which might works better and considering the cost, its not a wanton decision. Not sure between the BenQ LK936ST or something like an Epson L730U which is a long throw. It's for golf mostly, but we are starting to enjoy the screen for movies as well. Any advice is welcome!

Just a note to be very careful planning your projector placement. If it's offset from the center then you'll need to use keystone correction. Cheaper projectors use digital keystone correction which slightly distorts the image, more expensive use optical keystone correction. Some cheaper ones only do keystone on one side, Vertical from memory.
