  • Anyone have side by side comparison Screens?

Just wondering if anyone has done a side by side comparison on screen material with same projector to see actual visual colors and clarity? Like cheap vs medium vs actual top golf screen that way people can understand if a top 4k projector is worth it if you have a base low end screen vs the visual of a 1080p projector showing up on a higher end screen.
Help determine what's more important for picture the projector or the screen

I would tell you that any HD screen is going to present a good picture. I had a Carls Premium HD screen and the picture was great. I recently switched to a Bullseye Golf HD screen and I like the Bullseye fabric over the Carls. In fact, I put two holes in the Carls screen, but not till just over 70,000 shots. I was surprised I'd hit that many balls. The biggest issue I had with my Carls screen is that it started to pill (wearing where the ball hits most frequently) within the first week. After about 3.5 years, it finally gave out let one through. I rotated the screen and about a month later, another ball shot through the screen.

After having some discussion on this forum, I also hung a polyester Photo Backdrop in front of my impact screen to see how the picture improved. This setup was like watching a high end home theater screen. The problem was the cracking sound that these two screens emitted when a ball hit them. The Photo Backdrop was plenty strong to take the shots, it was just too loud. You can see this comparison on one my posts.

After about 5 months with the Bullseye, no pilling and no visible wear. Much happier and the Bullseye was cheaper than the other.

Ahh so that's the info I wanted to hear. Keeping sound out of it you found the picture clearer and crisper than the Carl's and Bullseye high end hitting screens? Sound means nothing to me in the garage and really the loud sounds are the driver not the ball hitting my screen. Maybe I should go from 1080p to 4k then since my screen now is a 15x10' photo backdrop that works perfect

I would say absolutely the photo backdrop provides the clearest picture and is surprisingly strong - able to take shots with no apparent wear. If I were going to use this setup, I would probably put a net behind the backdrop to deaden the ball and take some of the heat off of the backdrop alone.

I use 2 photo backdrops. Grey on the back then white on the front then 6" behind the screens have 3" King size memory foam. Takes all the blow out of the Backdrop

That's cool. Definitely the less expensive way to go and you cant beat the picture quality. I didnt leave mine up long enough to gauge the durability so, northshoremb, I would be interested in how long your photo backdrops last.
