  • TV Monitor Ruined by Ricocheting Golf Ball

I didn't notice what had happened right away as I don't always look at it between swings.
Even then, it wasn't apparent what had gone wrong until I noticed the circular pattern, lower-right in attached pic.
Sometimes used with my LiveView+ instant replay camera, other times as just a TV.
I guess I'll be needing some sort of cage to protect what I replace it with.

Ouch! What did it richocet off of? And would there be a way to prevent that rather than caging up a TV tight enough to stop a golf ball?

I don't know exactly. There are no sides attached to the screen I'm hitting into, so an errant shot could've bounced off any number of things in my garage.
It's not like some of the fancy setups I've seen.

        This might do the trick:

Count your lucky stars it was only a TV. After 9 months of no incidents, I copped one in my upper jaw the other day. Spooked me a little ever since, the wife is not happy either. Now have to look at mitigating this, for both mine and guest's sake.

When I built my custom enclosure, I built in a 40" long by 4" high ramp leading into the screen so balls will always return no matter what (Which works beautifully by the way). However a bladed shot can sometimes result in it ramping up, hitting the screen, then roof and coming right back at you with some venom, albeit muted somewhat. One fix is to stop blading shots, yet since that is involuntary anyway, I now need to research how to best muffle it somehow.
