  • Can Power cable and HDMI be together or issue?

    Hello All,

I appreciate many years ago this would be a non starter, these two cables together, with potential interference, but i have a power socket in the ceiling where the projector power cable will come down and also i have 2 x certified HDMI cables a USB Cable and a shielded CAT8 cable. Can i run these all in the projector ceiling mount together , it is only for 40cm so not a long run but none the less?

Appreciate your knowledge on this matter. thanks.

Lots of opinions here. My two cents would be:
    • Best practice is to avoid this when/where possible. My choice would to not have a power receptacle inside the ceiling (even if it remains accessible) - I would move/extend the receptacle to a ceiling mount and plug the projector in directly avoiding the power cable run through the mount.
    • Reality is you are likely not to have any issues or interference on either the HDMI or Cat cables. I would still move the plug. Takes about 15 mins.

I have a whole bunch of speaker cables, 4 HDMI cables, 1 network cable and 2 power cables all running together and no issue whatsoever.

Like you, i was a bit worried about interference, but i didn't have much choice, so i thought i'd try and deal with it if needed, it all worked out well
