  • Help me plan my sim

Any and all help would be appreciated. Looking for a budget sim in my garage which can be easily disassembled. Thinking of using the go sports sim cage. I know it has a tendency to sag but it will actually help with my overhead garage door opener. Using the garmin r10 for the monitor which I will hook up to an iPad and use awesome golf. I’m hoping to build my own hitting mat. Pixel golf has a video making a divot action hitting strip which looked like a decent enough option to avoid buying the 500$cad softy strip. I’ll use 1” gym mats with turf over top. Wondering if I can go less expensive on the turf or if it’s worth spending up on. I feel this would be a decent budget setup which could be upgraded piece by piece over the years. Please let me know what is good and bad about it and what might be worth upgrading out of the gate as I do have some leftover budget on this project. Thanks in advance

Sounds like a good plan. I use the GoSports cage too, proper assembly is key to limit the sag some complain about. I did exaccty what you did and used 1" foam tiles and added a divot action hitting strip. I covered the foam with Synlawn putting turf from Lowes. Putting is good on the turf and it's cheap-ish. I wouldn't spend more on the turf. If anything I'd spring for a TV and a HDMI adapter for you iPad, the bigger screen makes a world of difference if you're not using a projector. Best Buy always has open box TV deals in the 55" to 65" size this time of year, in the $200 range. Put it on a TV stand with wheels (from Amazon for $80) and you're in business.
