New member from Wisconsin!

Hello all, just joined here! I got a old pool table room in the basement that i just removed the pool table from today. Its a nice sized room- 14x19x10.5 high. I will include here two photos of the room and the mess that is in the way now. I am looking to put in a nice launch monitor/simulator to work on my game during the winter months and play some games with some buddies here. The last few years, i had about 7 minutes away from my house, a Trugolf E6 simulator to play on for leagues and socializing, but it was shut down this last fall and is no longer around and i really miss swinging the club and messing around.
So, I kind of have my eye on the GC4, however, just wondering from all the vast experience out there on this site of what others think about this and there are so many details to discuss and decide on. I will be taking my time on this decision and installation as i will just put a simple net up and golf mat and hit balls in here during the next few months, and get the build going during the summer months so it will be ready and up and running for the next winter season.

Again, i just joined this forum and i know there appears to be a lot of information on this forum out here to look over.

I like/want the precision instrument to measure the swing/club/ball accurately to work on improving my game, but also would like to be able to play simulator games accurately and if there are online tourneys and such would be fun also with the unit.

Greetings from a fellow Wisconsinite! Looks like you have a great room there - should be plenty of space, and especially height. The ceiling fan might be an issue, but you'll find out soon enough once you start swinging. From what I've read, the GC Quad is a little limiting in terms of the software you can use it with (you may only be able to use their software, which might or might not suit your needs and expectations). A little forum searching and you'll find a good answer to that. I will say I have really enjoyed my experience with the SkyTrak. This is my third winter with it, and it's been a very reliable unit, and seems to be very accurate. If it were ever in need of being replaced (which I hope is a long ways off), I'd really be torn between that and a GC2. The latter has numerous advantages, such as no shot delay, a bit more accurate, and can read shots from a wider spot on your golf mat. However, it also requires more maintenance from my understanding, having a flash unit that needs to be replaced after so many shots. I've hit thousands of shots with my SkyTrak since I got it and it's reading every bit as well now as it did when I bought it. Better, in fact, once I learned how best to place it and what type of tees work best.

Anyway, I wish you all the best and know you'll enjoy not having to drive to your local simulator when you just want to play a quick round Plus, you'll save all those hourly fees! Have fun and good luck!

FirGir, you are correct, the sauna is pretty nice back there also. However, the timer stuck on it as the heater is getting old and needs replaced also, when the kids used it a month back or so and myself not going into it for many weeks. The Sauna was stuck on for about 3 weeks straight, to say the least i didn't like my utility bill that month. i don't feel like replacing the heater/timer unit before i get the simulator going, so i have to go down each time the kids use to make sure the timer is off. These kids are very destructive around this part of the country, i am a bit worried of what they could do to any simulator equipment i get setup here. Thinking of locking the entire area up but not sure if it would be practical, but seriously thinking about security of equipment from my own family.
