  • New Member - SkyTrak or Mevo+

Hi. I’m planning my simulator build. First decision is which launch monitor. The best I’ve used is Trackman, but too expensive & don’t have the space. Second is GC2, but also too expensive, so it’s between Mevo+ and SkyTrak.
    Area I have is approx 4.5m x 4.5m (& 3m height).
I want accuracy, practise and game play for winter months.
What advice can you guys offer?

4.5m might not be enough distance for the Mevo+ to read everything accurately

Very good point. I can move further back if needed, but trying to limit the space used, as it’s going to be a duel purpose room 👍🏻

    Go here
At around $2,000 each, the SkyTrak and the FlightScope Mevo+ represent the most affordable options in accurate, reliable launch monitors for practice and simulated golf play. Both units measure all the critical ball launch data necessary to model real ball flight. Golf enthusiasts are lucky to have two great choices at

I was in the same predicament. I decided to go with the Mevo+ for the following reasons:
        • No ongoing subscription fees for online and skill games.
        • Newer product. Not necessarily better, but still something to factor in.
        • SkyTrak seems to have gone quiet with updates.
        • Less shot delay
        • Outdoor use
        • No real risk of damaging the unit with ball or club strikes. I’ve read that the protective cover is not guaranteed protection against those and is not covered under warranty for damage inflicted from that.
        • I was able to get TGC2019 for 30% off for Mevo+ using the coupon code from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOMlNGXyq9o. It saved me $500 AUD.
        • Allows for left and right-handed golfers (one of my mates is a lefty).
        • I had just enough space for the Mevo+. The unit can be moved and re-aligned easily, so it won’t take up too much space permanently behind the tee (only while in use). You mentioned you could move it back further if needed, so that might work well for you.
        • I was more interested in improving my long game, so occasional misreads on putts and short chips wasn’t of a concern.
The main annoyance/negative about the Mevo+ for me is the adhoc WiFi connection. Really wished they allowed for USB or Bluetooth as it means WiFi can’t be used for internet. So you either need an ethernet cable or a second WiFi adapter to play online.
Hopefully that helps you make your decision. My unit won’t arrive for another 6 weeks or so my opinions are only based on research and not from use.

What do you mean the wifi cant be used for internet?

Mevo+ creates its own wifi for you to hookup to your device (computer, iPhone, iPad etc). So since your device is communicating via the Mevo+ wifi you can’t connect to the internet. If you are on a laptop then you can via a eithernet connection or secondary wifi adapter. You can’t on a IOS device.
