  • Hello from MN!

    Hello from Minnesota!!

Been lurking on here for a little while, and between covid lockdown and the winter months I've decided to put together a simulator for entertainment. I've played golf very minimally, maybe 1-2 times a year since 2010, but really got into in last year when I realized I need to pick up a sport after I hang up my basketball shoes.

Long term i'll look at upgrading to a nicer setup to hit some real balls, but right now and am very happy about getting in some swings while locked in.

Here's a rundown of what i've put together
    • R-Motion (use the putty method not the clips)
    • 6ft by 4.5 ft hitting mat i grabbed from a local turf installer
    • 2inch pvc pipe frame using a king bedsheet
    • Vivimage M5 projector
    • 60 degree swing plane with foam noodle

Terrific! Whatever keeps you swinging a club! When you say "real balls" I assume you're using something like "Almost Golf" balls? In any case, if you do move to real balls, you'll want to consider padding the PVC and possibly putting up some side netting. Good Luck.

Congratulations, and welcome to the rabbit hole! That's a good start you have, should see you through the lockdown nicely.

Long term I will most likely do an impact screen setup in the garage, giving the ability to use real balls. I've ordered the Almost Golf Balls for the time being and they should be here this week. Looked at the hinge setup using the 1 inch metal electrical tubing, that would be ideal for my garage just need to convince the wife that i "need" it for the long winters if she doesn't want this rig in the living room.
