hi, everyone. I have been lutking and hanging around for the last month or two while I researched my simulator build. Thanks to the many who share their experience and knowledge I have begun my build and it has gone well so far.

I'm waiting on my grass carpet (rough) to come in and trying to figure out the lighting part while I wait the many weeks until SkyTrak is delivered. The garage build I am doing is fairly standard, 8×12 screen, 10ft ceiling, but there's way too much light and I have trying to solve that. More details to come and pics.

Too much light from what? Windows I’m guessing. If so, you can get blackout material to cover them. I have windows on my garage doors and use magnets to hold the material over them. Then I have a black harbor freight moving blanket over the window in the garage. Also located in Michigan, so a window ac unit works well in summer and 220 heater in the winter. I’d like to move to a mini split sometime, just looking for a decent diy one that works well in the lower cold temps

Actually from the overhead lights. I replaced the LED 100w bulbs with 65w floods and that didn't really help, then I bought to 75w spot light bulbs and those are better. I am finding the solution to put a board of some kind on the screen side of the bulbs to create a shadow on the screen and then i should be fine.

I'll know more once my skytrak gets here and I can see a real screen instead of just a b a ckground color from the projector.

Why do you want all of those lights on? If anything, you can get a cheap pinspot led light from amazon to light up just the hitting area. It projects a perfectly nice circle, then you don't have to worry about all the other lights.

Why not just turn the lights off when you play? I am also in the garage (with no windows) and I typically just kill the lights to play. The light from the projector gives me plenty of light to see. I also have a small desk lamp near the hitting mat to shine a little bit more light onto the hitting area. But you really don't need any overhead lights on at all.
