  • Hello from Ontario, Canada

Hello. My name is Rick, just a guy who really loves golf and at the same time hates cold Canadian winters. Been reading this Forum for about a month now. Made the decision to create a SIM in my 3 car garage. (Guess I’m parking outside...LOL).

Except for Electrical I’m going to build the entire thing myself. I’ll post some photos of the progress and document the build, sources and what I paid for stuff.

So far I have just purchased the Uneekor QED head unit with the mid level software. That’s it. The rest will be an adventure. Cheers guys. Completely new to this open to suggestions and advice. Especially if someone has a deal on something. Budget is about 35K CDN.

Welcome, Rick! This garage golf sim will be one of the best things you've ever done. Looking forward to seeing some progress pics.

Hey Golfallday1983 my garage is fully insulated so it doesn't even get that bad in the winter. but will need extra heat for a living space,. I'm going to build a wall against 2 of the garage doors and insulate that wall too as even though the garage doors are insulated honestly I think I still lose a far amount of heat in that area. I notice I have 2 supply lines of HVAC running up my garage walls for the upper floor so I'm going to consult with an HVAC guy to see if I can tap into those lines. That will give me two heating sources in the garage.

Hey Rick. I'm in Canada as well and will be purchasing a QED as my LM. Where did you purchase your QED from? Canadian dealer or U.S. dealer or direct from Uneekor? I was looking at pricing options and it seems cheaper to buy from the U.S. - even with the exchange rate and duties. Another question: how long did it take from purchase to delivery of the QED? Thx.

I’m planning to use a mini split and I’m just working with one bay in my garage of the 3 and it’s about 19 by 14 with 10ft ceilings

I will be building a subfloor to get the floor level and then looking into building my own enclosure to maximize my space

ACgolfer, I bought it from InHome Golf Simulators in Mississauga, ON. I did the math with from Uneekor direct and a few US prices I seen on-line and I'm paying about $300 more after all is said an done but I'm supporting local business and I can just pick it up from their impressive display room which is close to my home. I estimate they arent the cheepest but they do very good work. Actually I was impressed with the saleman Will. I went there with the intent to buy the Eye XO, also looking at other options like Trackman and Foresight. He said for the money go with QED. The only difference is non-marked balls, another camera view of the hitting area and a few more club metrics which only work when you have the tape on anyway. Also I like how QED is behind. While I may not hit the Eye XO with a super flop it would be on my mind. Also very shortly Uneekor will be coming of with stickers and more accurate club data for QED. He tested Trackman vs QED and said number were consistently close. My point is he didn't upsell me. I actually haven't sent the bank transfer to them yet but will on Monday or Tuesday. As far as delivery he said he can get his hands on one quickly for me but I still need to build my room so no rush there. I don't know how accurate this info is or if it was a sales tactic but he said with QED there is a planned $1000 price increase in Jan 2021.

Golfallday1983, doing the same. If you build before me please share your experience as I will mine, I think we can learn a lot on this site if we all contribute in some way.
