Newbie looking some advice re space requirements, Mevo+

Looking for some advice for a garage set up.

I have 17ft 6ins of space and I am trying to see if that is enough room for the mevo+ and a screen with the impact requirements. Width isn't an issue, I'm happy enough with hitting into a net and watch through a TV screen. I'm using it more for game improvement than a simulator.

If it isn't enough room I will likely look at skytrak instead.

Height: What is your ceiling height? 9' is adequate for most people under 5'11". I have 9'4" tall swing cage and with full follow thru extension with the driver I have about 10" clearance. I am 5'7".

Length: I think 17'6" length is just enough for Mevo+ as the requirement is 16' minimum. I also have 18 ft in length and went with Skytrak.

Screen width: I think ideal width is 12' for a 12'x9' screen with 4:3 ratio. If you don't have 12', then go with a 9'x9' screen. I think wider than 12' is just too wide for me.

Height wise I should be OK, I have a beam that I need to watch but simple enough to do.

I'm bouncing between the skytrak and the Mevo+, however, the Mevo is available at rrp where as the skytrak is going for £2200 used in the UK.

What gap do you have between the screen and the wall?

10 inches gap and it is very safe. I have been hitting and the screen only moved 2 inches at most with the driver. I think you can go as low as 6 inches gap. I just want to have some room for access to back side of the screen and cage.

Hi James.. my sim build has been "live" for about a month now. (Waited a few months for the skytrak to arrive.) I went round and round on what launch monitor to go with, and the skytrak won out for 1) Cost and 2) space requirements. I recall the Mevo+ sounding like it might be a better system, however my room is 20' max and I wasn't going to have the room with the layout I was looking to have.

In regards to spacing.. my screen sits approx 12" in front of some sliding glass doors. (Using a premium impact screen from Carl's Place.) A few inches behind the screen I hung heavy black-out curtains. (These also slide around the sides to serve as shank curtains as well.. My hitting mat is approx 10' from the screen, which leaves me about 9' behind that for some sitting area without being in the way of the back swing.

I've found with the impact spacing that 12" seems to be adequate. The recommendations will always be a bit deeper than needed, and also depending on what you hang behind your screen can also allow you some wiggle room. Many people put a net behind their screen.. I've even read threads where people hang a curtain or comforter and that helps arrest balls quicker.

Keep us posted! Here's a link to my sim room in case you're curious about screen spacing. If I'm willing to shoot from 10' away into a screen that's 12" in front of a glass door, you should be ok in your garage. :-)
