  • Location for sim

    Hey, guys. I'm new here.

I'd like to have my own personal golf simulator setup, but my major stumbling block is location. Assuming private home property is out of the question, what are my options for housing a simulator? I know apartment builds (especially for higher-end systems like Uneekor) are very difficult to pull off because of space and noise disturbances, if the landlord would even allow it.

I also thought of storage units, but I realize that those wouldn't work for several reasons. There's also renting a garage or some other private space, but I don't like the idea of someone else having access to the simulator while I'm not there.

So, do I have any options at all at this point? Or will I have to settle for paying to use simulators in indoor sports centers?

If you get a portable launch monitor, you could just transport it from the garage (or wherever) back to where you live for security and just leave the screen and mat.

I used a Rucker SPDR for quite a while. It’s a good-sized net, but its killer feature is how easily the net folds down for transport/storage. The frame is strong metal, the net stays attached when folded, and the net comes with a sturdy carry duffel and a cheap tri-turf mat. (I’d recommend replacing the mat, but it would work as an initial iteration.)

I’d recommend pairing it with a SkyTrak so you can stand as close as possible to the net, but the SPDR would work with a radar unit like the Mevo+, provided that you’re comfortable with hitting from further away.

If you don’t have indoor space, you can take the SPDR and a launch monitor to a park, or another suitable outdoor location for practice.
