  • What sim technology was I using?

Hoping someone can help identify what type of simulator this was.

Just went to a new simulator in Mankato MN. I had a lot of trouble with what I felt was improper side spin. Trying to figure out if it was my swing or the sim and if it’s just the sim then I won’t worry about it.

It was a full bay, no launch monitor. There were what looked like two black strips on the floor and walls creating almost 2 rings for the ball to pass through. One was about 2 feet in front of the hitting mat and another was probably 3 feet past that. They had a slot in the middle of the strips that looked reddish so I’m assuming this was a laser based system that tracked the ball as it passed through each “ring”. It did not give club head speed and was using the e6 software.

For reference I am a 6 handicap and usually drive the ball around 300yds. Unsure if speed was a contributing factor to what I felt were side spin issues. My wife wasn’t having issues.

Also putting was horrendous as you had to roll the ball over each strip but when it hit the first strip, because they weren’t perfectly level with the surface it would bounce up and get slowed down by the raised strip.

Anyone able to tell me what this was? zz0.sha5cwg568lzz

I think full swing uses this tech. That said, I haven't heard much about how well it works

I agree, it sounds like Full Swings older optical sensor system.

Alright thanks for the responses, i was able to find it I believe.

Makes sense that the tech seemed lacking to me as golf simulators have come a long long way in 19 years. Guess it just surprised me that a “new” sim venue would choose such out dated technology.
