Hello all, I am happy to be here and excited to begin my simulator shed transformation! I am welcome to all advice, tips and wisdom. Especially the things you guys "learned the hard way". Lol -that should be it's own topic. I have an old beat up detached workshop/shed that is 16w X 16h X 9.5 vaulted ceilings.
It was always a dream to fix it up and build a home golf sim. With all the constraints of time and expense, it's been a long time dream. I was considering the Garmin R-10 as a cost effective indoor system, but then the MLM2 PRO came out at the PGA show - and damn, this thing is sexy! Indoor spin #s, includes 30,000 courses (with membership), minimal space requirements, runs on Android, has 2 cameras, no need for PC or additional software - and less than $700!? No brainier.
Only problem is the February pre sale sold out instantly and it's been radio silence on any new info from Rapsodo since.
I hope I am able to buy one on the 3/31/23 release date.
In the meantime there is a ton of work to do on the shed.
Time and a poor foundation have made it unlevel and sinking to one side. Getting it jacked up and leveled out today.
Hurricane Ian destroyed the doors. That project will be next weekend.

If youre on a budget i would consider a used skytrak (they go for like $1400 on here) because with your space (room length) it might be tight for the MLM2. from what i've read on here those radar units work way better the further you are from the screen. It will work, but with longer clubs (long irons, woods, driver) you would likely not get accurate readings because of higher balls speeds. Also, everything thats been put out on that unit is from marketing, or youtube influencers with something to gain from you buying the unit. Im a skeptic at how well it will actually perform at that price point, considering its claims put it up against units that are 5x the cost.

In general, photo-based units are going to perform better indoors unless your in a very large space.

Check out Brettster's thread, be built a really cool sim in his shed completely DIY and documented everything start to finish!
