New member, new golfer, going all in on a sim play!

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I decided to start my golf journey by relying heavily on simulator play through a challenge that I am documenting on IG and YouTube. I'm not here to self-promote, so I'll keep it short. I'm challenging myself to learn golf, from never picking up a club to attempting to break 80 outside within a year. I will not play on an outdoor course until I think I can do it. Proving that golf can be learned at home on a sim to a level allowing an enjoyable experience outdoors.

I converted my tandem garage space into a full custom-built luxury sim. I did all the work myself and saved costs wherever necessary. I'll definitely do a detailed write-up at some point with photos, and a video will be posted on my YouTube channel in the next week or two that will cover everything in great detail.

I'm here to learn every way I can create an outdoor-like experience to help me reach my goal. I want to work on different lies, grass lengths, etc. I'd also like to eventually do some online tournaments as well!

Get out on a course from day one. Start on par three courses, play on off times to avoid slow play behind you, move up to 9's and 18's when you can keep a good pace on the par three course.
Sim play and course play work together, all the sim play in the world wont teach you how to play with uneven lies, poor lies, wind and every other distraction on the course. Most of all have fun and enjoy the ride.

Agree. Nice to play sim golf. But you have to play outside. I play 90% sim 10% outside. Sometimes you have to swing outside to free yourself. Play enough inside and you will know what I mean. My TGC 2019 handicap is -3.6.
