  • ireland garage set up

    Hi everyone from n. ireland
Currently planning something for my garage which facilitates practice over and above a net -
Is the sim build section the place for advice -
Couple of things I need to consider and get some advice on ( namely ceiling height of 8ft 8inches )

    Thanks everyone in advance

8' 8" is going to be tough to work with if you are wanting to swing driver/3 wood/hybrid. Some people have altered rafters to allow more headroom above the swing area. Runs the cost up but long term perhaps a better solution than only being able to hit wedges only. Have a friend video you swinging with your back to a wall and over 5 swings or so take notice of where the top of the arc is on your swing, measure up to that & add 6-8", that's where you'll need to have the ceiling height at in order to avoid the occasional odd follow through or swing smack the ceiling.

I had the same problem, and I'm 5'10" tall, with an 8'6" ceiling. Choke down on the driver, and back-swing at 90 degrees and I'm fine. All other clubs aren't a problem. You can take the back-swing further on the course. I'm learning, so accuracy on hitting the ball is more important to me than distance at this point.

43in driver would be the limit I think I'd be aiming for but probably unrealistic. Will defs get some videos done as you advise.

Usually only swing wedges 8i 6i then hybrid into net in garden so plan was to transfer that indoors for winter

Thought it might be fun to add 2nd hand projector and launch monitor for £1500

I have just under 9 feet in my basement - so we work with what we have. I do not swing anything north of a Hybrid but Hybrid and lower work just fine. That said, it is not ideal and I do miss working with Driver but it is (much) better than nothing for the 5-6 month off season here in Canada!
