  • Inaccurate Shot Distance with PX2

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum and hoping this is a simple question for some of the more experienced GSA golfers out there. I purchased a PX2 system from Martin back in 2012 and have since moved to a new house and just reassembled my simulator setup in the basement. My system consists of the PX2 sensor mat and the ~100 GSA golf courses. I've recently been in contact with Martin working through some setup issues and now have a fully functional system that is stable and consistent. That is the good news! On the down side, all of my shot distances seem to be way off. The driver, woods, and hybrids fly all fly around 200yds. My long iron shots are close to accurate, but all of my short iron shots seem to go about 30 yds too far. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any advice on how to dial in the club distances is appreciated! I've attached screen shots of my control panel and GSA settings windows. I've played around with most of these settings trying to dial it in. When I make the short irons accurate the long irons travel too far and when I dial in the long irons the short iron shots are way too long.

    Thanks,
    Kyle

I have never used the PX2 mat by itself. You can use carry factors to dial in each club. You may want to add a Vcam to the mix. It is a great addition.

Thanks keither. Before I made the effort to dial in every club I wanted to confirm I didn't have one of the global settings incorrect. Would you suggest the Vcam and Hcam or does the Hcam only add minimal gains to the system? On another note, would you suggest purchasing the Vcam next over TGC software?

Both cameras add to the system but very differently. Vcam will give you accurate LA and speed ,and with that, along with your club data... pretty accurate ball flight..... Hcam will give you accurate direction, but your PX2 mat already does a great job with calculating direction... So why bother with the Hcam......putting... Having an Hcam allows you to use Hcam putting. You can set up a flat putting surface ahead of your hitting area. Hcam putting uses a slow exposure on the camera to get better accuracy for speed and direction. Without the hcam, you have to putt over the sensors.

If you don't want to buy all 3 at once.... here is what I would do. Buy the Vcam first... Putting isn't great on Red Chain anyway..... I usually auto 2 putted. When funds allow buy the Hcam and TGC at the same time. Putting is fantastic on TGC especially with Hcam putting.

        1.Vcam
        2. TGC ( miles ahead of Red Chain and E6 ) feels more like real golf.
        3. Hcam

You will find a high level of accuracy once you add the Vcam. I ran my system with the Hcam disable for one round. The PX2 mat did such a great job calculation ball direction.....if it wasn't for putting, I wouldn't see the need for the Hcam.

Now all I need to do is find someone selling a used Vcam and purchase TGC! : )

Back to my original problem, I've noticed the control panel main screen always shows a 1 iron. Is this normal? Shouldn't the club I've selected in GSA golf be shown on the control panel main screen? As I change clubs in GSA golf the control panel still shows the 1 iron. Also in the text next to this club it indicates I should be able to change it using a left or right click. When I try this a new club (putter or 2 iron) flashes on the screen then it immediately defaults back to the 1 iron. Has anyone seen this before? The attached screen shot shows the control panel main screen I'm referring to.

          Thanks,
          Kyle

Yes I believe that the club should change. Most of us are using TGC and TGC changes the club when you select in the game. Send Martin a message. I haven't used Red Chain more than once since buying TGC..... I was just checking how accurate one of the courses was.
