  • Vistrak cables required

    Hello,
I’m in the middle of converting my garage into a simulator and I plan on purchasing a vistrak system. Anyone know which cable/cables that system requires?

Using it with Skytrak, so as far as ceiling mounts just the vistrak and my projector. About to sheet rock in the ceiling and want to get the cables ran. Running 2 hdmi’s as of now, and wanted to know if other cables might be required for the vistrak cameras

Yes there are other cables. Off of the camera it has a short cable that has a usb micro b at the camera end and a usb A at the other. Then you will have a 30' powered USB A extension cable. Both of these are USB 3.0 cables. Keep in mind, they have had issues with bad cables being shipped with the product. Also, make certain you understand that this requires a USB 3.0 port native to your MB and even that may not work. You may have to purchase and use a dedicated PCIe USB 3.0 card.

Also, you will need two AC outlets near the camera, one for the camera and the other for the powered usb cable.

What are you planning to use for light for the camera to work?

Rsmith1111 I have sold and installed few of these so far. I am helping GSA with the testing and builds of the unit. You will need an powered USB 3.0 cable from the vistrak to your computer. A 30' is supplied with the unit, but if you need longer or want to run it in the ceiling prior to purchase, I recommend getting one that is UL listed.

With GSA standard VisTrak eagle, You will also need to be able to connect the power for the USB cable and power for a light. Without any extensions or modifications, both will need be a couple feet from camera.

Bond, had a good question about light. I am trying to help GSA come to light design and make it standard. Not all lights are adequate. I have a few different setups that worked. a very bright visible white LED with a lens, multiple halogen spot lights, or an infra red LED module. Each has its pros and cons. The bright LED is standard (pretty certain...I can verify with Martin) is a little bulky IMO, is mounted seperate so it can look out of place, and is extremely bright to the player, some have been bothered by it, others are not. The halogens are less.expenaive but a special order bulb and fixture and require multiple depending on ceiling height. But not more than 3 and They put off some heat. The IR is most expensive, but can be integrated into the case, for a clean low profile and is not visible to the player. It increases to size of the unit if integrated into the case.

I am listed on the GSA website, but not an employee. GSA has contracted me a few times to do some work, and I can sell and support his products. Full disclosure, I also represent and sell Uneekor, e6 connect, TGC (protee), and fiberbuilt products. Semi-onboard with foresight and Flightscope. And I manufacture impacts screens and sell raw flooring turf for stance and putting surfaces. So I am trying to be a value option, brand agnostic, one stop shop, for the core components of a simulator. Contact me at mike@visgolf.com if you need any more info on any of these products.
