  • GSA Golf web site- a wealth of information

Getting info out of LM manufacturers about how their products work is typically impossible. you end up relying on rumors, innuendo and premature conclusions based on your own personal biases. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the GSA Golf web site is filled with enough detailed description of how their products work to satisfy even the most skeptical of consumers. All that glowing praise aside, I still haven't seen much in the way of reviews for their products on the web. I'm not sure if GSA Putt is made by the same company, but I can vouch that it's an exceptional low cost solution for tracking your putter head using an iPad.
Can't wait to see how it all unfolds with the LX series. If it is anywhere near as impressive as it looks, I will certainly be a customer.

I sent an email in to GSA to inquire about the LX series and received a return email later that day. I will copy and paste below.

Thank you for your interest in our LX launch monitors.

    In answer to your questions:

    When will they be available?

LX1, and LX2 at the end of this month.
    LX3 later this fall.

What data collected with these units are based on measurements and what data is based on calculations or algorithms?

LX1 and LX2 : Ball spin, LA, HA (path) and speed are measured. Club data estimated
LX3 : All data is measured and not estimated.

Do you have any live testing posted on the web.

    Not yet.

Do you offer teaching pros a discount?

    Possibly later.
Are you looking for beta testers?

Not at the moment, I already have 3.

Please feel free to get back to me anytime if you have any further questions.

    Regards,

There products are never done, always over promise. He's a smart engineer, bad businessman. I know I can relate I'm the same way.

You may be absolutely correct. I have scoured the internet and haven’t been able to find a single objective review of these products.
Admittedly I’m easily seduced by new innovative tech, and at face value, it seems to be that.

I was considering purchasing an lx1 or 2 but cant find nothing about the actual use of them online. Its very detailed about the technical aspect on the website but nothing of day to day actual use. Id probably get one tomorrow if I could see it used as a simulator.

Given the prices, I'd purchase one tomorrow as well if I could see some objective testing

I am beta testing it now...... It is not ready for sale..... Hardware seems good. But the software needs work. I have plenty of videos of the Vistrak stereo in action during beta testing. Short game and putting is incredibly good. The unit calculates spin.

I am just putting the finishing touches on my new sim room.... I will be testing shortly and will offer regular updates on progress.

I actually just picked up an lx1. Should be here today. I installed the control panel and the free GSA golf course and driving range and messed around. The control panel seems all right but can't seem to get the image to fit inside the screen so I'm missing the top portion of the control panel. The GSA golf game won't even run says it can't find a file but the driving range seems okay. I should have a better idea of how it works later today as I'll probably mess around with it a bunch later and probably tomorrow. I'm not a beta tester or anything but it seems like it. Though that doesn't bother me since I got it from someone for like 900 bucks on eBay unused. I'm a computer and electronics tech so not really concerned about it not working perfectly at the beginning . Plus it looks like it's user repairable which I like.

You can pick up the E6 demo for free or buy TGC 2019 or E6 Connect. Don't bother with the old GSA software. The LX series is still in Beta testing. PM me if you want an invite to my Discord channel.

I'm really looking forward to hearing about how it goes with the lx1

Shwag is correct. These products never get finished. Been on this site for the last 7 years and never seen anyone super satisfied with anything they bought. Always beta never finished and moves on to the next idea before the previous one is complete.

CX2, PX5, PX5 stereo, CX2 stereo, Vistrak Stereo......all seem to work quite well. Short game and putting on these systems are much better than any other sim that I have tried....... which includes, Skytrak, Mevo + Trackman 4, GC2, Fullswing.

I share the concerns of others that Martin is sometimes like a dog that sees a squirrel. He gets off task at a drop of a hat. This makes him ....not a great business man. He is however a brilliant engineer.

I would classify GSA systems as DIY simulators. For those of us that enjoy that and have the patience and ability, they can be quite rewarding. My ball flight on the Mevo+, Vistrak Stereo, and GC2 is all pretty much the same. Putting on the Vistrak Stereo is great. I have a couple of videos on Youtube which shows incredible putting speed detection by the Vistrak Stereo. Older videos will show the HA accuracy of the stereo system.

These systems are not plug and play. Cameras need to be mounted and cables need to be run. And then the system needs to be calibrated. Your enclosure matters as well. Reflective material does not fair well in a GSA enclosure. Mevo + users also are facing similar challenges with their enclosures. I am testing Martin's latest ideas......... IMO , the LX and Quantum series is not ready for sale..... I will post when it is ready.

Currently I am running my single camera Vistrak along side of the Mevo +. This gives me the club data that the Mevo+ is missing and a video playback of the clubhead at impact. This video pops up as a overlay after your shot. Being that you have a Uneekor, I don't have to tell you how nice it is to have the video.

GSA systems are not for everyone....that's for sure, but for those of us who don't mind a mile long list of instructions.....they work quite well.

Update. I wasnt able to do much last night as my camera is not registered. There's no way to do this online so I had to email Martin. I guess I will have to wait until monday when he hopefully responds to my email to do anything.

You said you got the LX1. Do you have a picture of it? Does it have the double sided lights from the website?

Curious how big that ends up being

So far the only thing I can think is just don't waste your money. It doesn't do nearly what it says on the website and I suspect it may never. It is truly not a consumer product.

I'm new to the golf sim world, and trying to figure out which route to go. My funds are limited at this point, but it looks like I'll have around 3k to spend. Should I just go with a Skytrak and TGC19 and then add components as I can, or should I try to look at a used Protee BP2 or something from GSA?

Seems like something the Vistrak Stereo would be a good option, but the GSA website is panic inducing in the organization department.

Skytrak no doubt. Everything from GSA is continually in beta. It's a hobby for someone.

Skytrak plus TGC2019 will put you at 3k but then you still need a hitting mat, a net or screen, a PC to run the software, and a projector if you want to hit into a screen. That additional stuff can really jack up the total cost.

A good but cheap screen option is to hang up a heavy painters canvas drop cloth. I did that and hung it with curtain rings on a 1" EMT conduit so I could move the screen out of the way if needed. Got a 40 pack of curtain rings with clips from amazon for $15.

You can get a cheap hitting mat but your elbows and wrists will pay for it so it's a good idea to get a good quality hitting mat. The cheapest option is to get a good quality hitting strip & then build some flooring around it so you're standing on the same level as the hitting area.
          Working...
