  • VisTrak misreads w/ Birtees

    Hi,

I use Birtees to tee up the ball. If I hit the ball and the tee, sometimes the VisTrak camera sees the tee as the ball and the speed calculation is way off. I've had some decent drives that TGC ends up saying I only hit the ball 4 yds! Not fun!

Here's some pictures of a video feed I captured and usually just the ball is in a blue square, but towards the end, the ball is out of the picture but the tee is in the picture and the blue square captures the tee and messes with the ball speed reading and probably also direction, etc.

    Anyone else have these issues?

    Thanks,

You can use those types of tees as long as they are not white or yellow.

I tried the blue ones and still get the same result.

Ok.... in your first image....the ball is picked up. In the second image....the ball is picked up.... in the third image the tee is picked up but it makes no difference as the ball has already been measured......indicated by the 2 red crosshairs. You will also want to mark the top of the driver as shown on the website. It also looks like your scale is not correct. It also looks like you have IR light only. Most of us are running IR light and the LED spotlight. It works way better with more light.

      Thanks for the reply keither5150.

See the attached pictures for better clarity. The 1st ball speed frame, Frame 0, shows the ball in the blue square and the red crosshair is in the middle of the ball, so that measured correctly. But the 2nd ball speed frame, Frame 4, in the next picture has the birtee in the blue square and the red crosshair in the middle of the birtee. SO in the previous pictures, the ball was in the picture but it didn't record those as the 2nd ball speed frame. So the ball speed calculation was based on 5 frames over that red crosshair distance, which by that time, the ball is well outside of this viewing window. So it's clearly wrong. I sent this video to Martin but I mentioned a handful of other issues I came across, so maybe I should email him just 1 thing at a time.

      Regarding your other comments.
      1. I will get stickers to put on my dark clubs. I guess since the club is darker than the mat, the software doesn't detect the club, so the sticker should help.
      2. I will get an LED spotlight. Do you use the same one as on the GSA website or something different? What's the wattage you use?
      Thanks!

I see. Most of us use the same spotlight.....the one on the site.
    Working...
