  • TGC Backspin

I have the VisTrak IRVC and it seems to estimate backspin based on club used and club speed and it at least gives a different number on each shot as viewed in the GSA Control Panel. However, when playing TGC 2019, the reported backspin in TGC is always ~2200rpm regardless of the club or ball speed or anything else.

    Anyone else have this issue?

On the right hand side....change all of the 0.00 to 1.00

Make sure that other spin sliders are set to 1-1.25

Can you explain a bit more about this page and what the settings do? I am trying to learn and document what is important when doing your set up and I'm not sure theory behind the settings for this page. I am assuming that if you don't have measured spin rates then you can customize things to get more accuracy? But for example when would I want to use launch angle settings instead of club type?

Let me see if I understand the other settings:

Global sliders - adjust the base numbers for all clubs
Club Sliders - adjust the base global carry number for that club (disabled on launch angle type selection?)
Launch Angle slider - adjust range of estimated carry based on launch angles? (disabled on club type selection?)
Spin slider - adjust range of estimated spin based on launch angles? (disabled on club type selection?)
Club Select - the yardage from the hole in the game where that club is the default selected

In your example you have selected adjustment based on club type and then selected a 5 iron.

For the 5 iron table shown
MPH - ball speed (or is it club?)
Yards - the carry distance that the club will fly in the air to first bounce
RPM - Estimated Spin generated at that speed for that club

So now you can do some further adjustments based on ball speed. Is the concept that you take you on course performance and use these learned values to tweak the sim performance? Sorry for all the questions I'm trying to build an install/calibrations cheat sheet based on how things work.

I don't fully grasp these settings either as I understand it pretty much the same as Lewis. Also, when I hit the button at the top "Speed & spin adjust based on launch angle", it doesn't stick, meaning I can't actually select that option. Since the IRVC has a vertical LA camera, you would think you could select it.

The CP is a powerful tool to pretty much change any setting needed, however it is difficult to navigate since there's no instructions on how to use it and only some explanation of a setting when you hover over the setting name or selection bubble. The only guidance on the CP is scattered throughout the GSA website which changes daily and makes it hard to keep up.

Any cheat sheets on CP settings would be much appreciated!

In the image above.....Disregard the center column of sliders... "LA speed adjustments:" is obsolete.
Club adjustment....adjusts ball speed per club....ie... you can boost your clubs 5% if you are from Denver or live at a high altitude.

Spin adjustment can be fine tuned on a per club basis...... compared to the other spin adjustment that adjusts all clubs at once.

On the far right..... carry adjusts the carry listed for that particular speed and club. The far right column...spin...... should be all set at 1.00.... and not the default 0.00

      MPH is ball speed.
RPM is spin but it will vary with speed and LA.... if you hit a 130 mph 5 iron at 10 degrees LA it will have different spin compared to the same shot at 20 degrees LA.

Yards is just for carry in the control panel....it doesn't affect any game software carry.

I tried this and the GSA CP is still sending 0rpm backspin (hover over the backspin measurement in the CP and the red text shows 0) to TGC. I also selected GSA/ProX as the sim, and still was just sending 0rpm. Carry Factors are turned ON.
