Eagle base vs ccam for club tracking add on

can someone explain to me the difference between using the ccam vs using eagle base as a club tracking add on for anothe lm? Does the eagle require special lighting? How bout the ccam? What is the cost of the eagle? Necessary accessories?
coat of the ccam? Necessary accessories?
what about the higher end club tracking solutions? What kind of a framerate doea the ccam get? Eagle base?

The Ccam is the older tech.... it worked quite well in mono....not as good in color. I just looked at the site..... Ccam and CTS are from 5 years back and never caught on. Not too sure where Martin's head is at with this one.

As keither5150 mentioned, the Ccam is the old style GSA system, although I'm not familiar with it. The VisTrak system is the latest and hopefully the greatest! I would think you would be better off investing in their newer system.

I have the Eagle with the IR lighting panel and have only had it for about 2 months, so I'm a GSA newbie. You can get the cost on the GSA website. I also have the 60W LED spotlight that's mentioned on the GSA site. The Eagle works decently well but still working through some issues.

The Eagle is a pretty inexpensive add-on to get club data, so overall, I would recommend it. However it depends exactly what kind of data you're wanting to get. The Eagle frame rate is 590fps which I think is fast enough for seeing your club come through the ball and extracting the measurements. Here's my observations as far as club tracking in my environment and the other people on here could have different experiences.
      1. You can tell if the club data was measured or estimated as it tells you in the GSA Control Panel. This is good because if it says Estimated, then you can at least try to fix it.
      2. You can have the video playback automatically after every shot even while playing TGC or E6. This is great.
      3. I put the white tape on the woods because they have a dark face, as recommended on the GSA site. This works pretty well in tracking the club but sometimes the club path measurement is way off which can cause the sidespin calculations to be way off. But at least 90% of the time, the club data is measured, at least with the dark face clubs and white tape over the top.
      4. For my 4iron thru 8iron, it measures the club data almost every time even without any tape on the clubs. This is with the spotlight on. With the spotlight off, sometimes the club data is estimated.
      5. For 9iron thru lob wedge, and with the spotlight on, the club data and ball data can get really messed up, mainly with slower shots. The face angle of the club reflects way too much with the spotlight and the software has a hard time distinguishing from the ball and the club. So sometimes a chip shot will register a 200mph ball speed and since it didn't measure the club, the club speed is estimated from the ball speed, so then the club speed is estimated to be really high. I have tried this with and without the white tape on the clubs and doesn't help. If I turn off the spotlight, the ball speed is much more realistic, however the club data is estimated. I need to email Martin a video of these cases to see if there's a fix, either with the software or with my system settings. In the event of the bogus ball speeds, it sounds like it won't affect your gameplay since the GSA software won't be talking to the sim software.
      6. So basically I get good club measurements for Driver thru 8iron and great video playback for every shot.
Hope this helps. It looks like you have a Flightscope X2, is that correct? Are you happy with it? So you're just looking to get a club tracking camera to add onto the X2? Sounds like a good combo!

Maybe, I will do a video showing just club data....... might be a thought. I just did a couple of side by side videos with the Mevo+ and Vistrak Stereo. 40 yard pitches.....done.....8 iron....done.... So, today I thought I would hook them both up to see how the latest update performed...... Well, the first shot.... 112 mph 22 degrees LA..... 8-9 degrees of right spin axis...... both sims were identical...... Well, what could go wrong if I start recording....... The wheels fell off quite quickly... some shots were 25 yards off center. Anyways, maybe I will post the vid....maybe I will redo it. Although I didn't play well, the two sims were quite similar in performance.

updated - I had the older club tracking set up that was part of the CX3 system and the comments below are based on that. The website shows some a newer approach for the CCAM but I still think as an add on the Eagle is a better system and easier to setup. The biggest difference is that the new setup use a low speed camera and a longer exposure and the Eagle has a high frame rate and can produces "snap shots" of the club as it moves through impact.

There is no comparison between the CCam and VisiTrak Eagle. I own both and I took apart my CCam for parts to play around with because there is such a huge difference in ease of set up and performance between the 2. The CCam uses 2 low speed cameras with flash to take frames of approach and near impact. It might have changed lately but the CCam needed a trigger mat to tell the cameras when to fire and required careful placement of the tee area and lighting so the club triggered the camera. The software around the Eagle video replay is also much better than the older CCam approach.

Thank you to all 3 of you for all of the exceptional analysis and info. It’s really surprising that there aren’t more camera based club tracking options out there. The hmt has been around for a while now and seems to work pretty well with a gc2 but is super expensive. You can buy a quad and pay for the add on for club tracking if you have a spare 15 to 20k laying around or if you want to take on an extra mortgage. The eagle is an enticing possibility and looks like it’s a real value option if you can get through the setup. I would really like to see a moderately higher frame rate option available. Maybe 1000 FPS or close to it. Color or monochrome. It wouldn’t matter much to me if it accurately tracks club.
