  • Broken Hook of Hamate

Well, pretty sure I have re-fractured the hook of the hamate bone. Need to find a good Orthopedic surgeon willing to remove it. Been struggling with pain there for over 2 years now. In a cast for 12 weeks last year. Posting this in here because the pain worsened greatly during this tournament. Looks like no golf for me for another 6 weeks at least. I just want to have surgery and get it healed. First realized there was significant damage after I went from carrying a driver 280+ to maybe 240. Talk about a kick in the nuts. 3 Doctors diagnosed with tendonitis before I demanded an MRI which revealed the fracture. If anyone has pain in the lead hand on the pinkie side, in the wrist area. Go see a hand specialist an tell them to take a carpal view x-ray or an MRI. Doctors are evidently notorious for misdiagnosing this injury. I would also recommend surgery. After months of research on this type of Injury, I have learned that the best option is surgery. I found comments from a Dr that stated he had never seen someone heal this bone with a cast, it always is removed or it will break again. I found out the hard way.

Surprised they didn't remove it the first time - your research is spot on, they rarely heal well. Good luck.

My FU finger is destroyed, have no idea why. I have to play like Teddy Bridgewater with two gloves to not be in pain haha. My buddies have field day with it. My T vertebrae are also in bad shape, that's hockey related. Sucks when you get it all set up and can't use it. Get well
