Hi - I am finishing a garage build and planned on installing a Liftmaster 8500 wall mounted garage door opener. I've had two different garage door installers tell me to avoid it if possible and to keep the existing opener, but move it from the middle of the garage. They claim there are numerous issues people encounter with the Liftmaster 8500. If you have installed a wall mounted unit, please let me know if there are any issues to expect.

Mine has been installed 1 month with zero issues. It is so quiet and frees up do much space. I hope I dont jinx myself now. The only issue I ever read is doors opening on their own. My installer said lift master released anew wall remote quite awhile ago and that solved the issue

We really like both of ours. Never thought we'd ever use the phone app for garage doors, but it has saved a few trips when you get settled in bed or just want to check after you leave. Also, super handy when you have guests arrive and you are a bit busy, or kids need to grab something and you are in the back yard..
Smooth operation. We like the integrated locks. Ours has a backup battery for power outages. Our installer had zero issues with the request and they are one of the most honest and responsive businesses I have ever hired. They were very familiar with the install, setup, and features. They even paid me for my old doors and equipment because they knew someone trying to save a bit.
The golf sim room project would not have happened without this type of unit. I have another garage that I intend to install this unit.Last edited by Will; 07-03-2020, 06:53 PM.Uneekor QED / The Golf Club 2019
