    Pebble Beach, Spyglass, Spanish Hill

I am going to Capitola, CA next week for vacation. I am tempted to try to play at one of these courses. I know that it is very expensive but I may not have another chance. Any thoughts on the golf experience on the Monterey Peninsula. Any tips on which course, caddy or not, how to get on? Any thoughts appreciated.

here the scoop on this I own a home kind of close to these courses and have played all these courses and
    1. pebble beach has two courses too play, do the original pebble beach course I can not remember the name of the other course
    2. Spanish hills in ventura and its a private CC which I have also played but is a membership only if your talking about Spanish bay this is a tough course lot of blind spots has no driving range and take extra balls liked it though one thing I did notice is the condition of the course is dried out a lot more then the other two so beware a lot of brown on the grass
    3. now spy glass is my favorite out of the 4 here I would give two big thumbs up and the first six holes will make your bucket list a reality for a golf game as the whole landscaping is like being in golf heaven haha, but pebble beach also has some holes that are amazing to be on in person.
do not rent a cart as these are not allowed at all on any grass and you will be walking just as far to get to a ball on the other side of the fairway and why rush through the course enjoy the day.. as far as I remember caddies are required so base cost on this that will be around 250.00 with tip for caddie think of them as a walking security guard as they make sure that 5 yards off the fairway is a drop shot divots are repaired correctly etc..
so here is the jest of it make tee times now try to play two courses I would recommend pebble beach the original and spyglass be prepared to spend at least 750 per round with all fees incurred. I know ouch but its a bucket list trust me if the weather holds and it does almost always stay out of morning tee times as during this time of year fog is a morning thing and take extra balls...... I hope this helps PM me if you have any more questions and forgot small greens beware.

I was referring to Spanish Bay, ooops. Thanks for all the advice. I will try to get onto Pebble. If not Spyglass. I hope that my game will hold up.

either one you will love and take pictures make sure you post a few on forum, but do not think that your sim game will transfer over to IRL on this course it will humble you a bit to say the least have fun I miss the California weather and golfing now that i am in Oregon, still trying to figure out if the job offer was worth it at least I found the sim world over it I guess thats one positive haha.

I played Pacific Grove a few years back. They refer to it as the poor mans Pebble Beach. I thought it was pretty good but I do regret that I didn't play Pebble Beach.

I was not able to get to Pebble, YET. I played Pacific Grove golf club. Nice course. Thanks for the recommendation. I even played very well. I ended up with an 83 with a triple on a par 3 that I sent OB. My best round ever is 82 IRL. The views were great on the back 9. Yes, There were many Mule deer bucks wandering around.

I will still try to get on Pebble but the weather is not promising.

Awesome pics, weather there is quick to go away, and rain is rare try to keep your reservation as it most likely will blow out. Have fun
