I think I'm gonna grab a set of 4-AW of the Cobra Forged tec black and give them a go for a few months indoors and see if I can hit them good enough to play them outdoors.
the only worry I have is hitting the wedges with that long shaft. I choke down and play alot of 1/2 or 3/4 PW shots inside 100 yards now and I'm not sure how those will feel with these clubs... worth a try I guess. I already ordered the 2-3 iron utility club and that will replace my 3 hybrid and 5 wood because its adjustable from 18 to like 21 degrees

Yes, all my shots are a lot higher now compared to regular irons. I tried the forge tech but felt I wasn't "good enough" yet for them. But they look so damn good!

Yeah they are sexy lol...
I like the connect being built in also, that will be a nice addition to track all my stats.. do you have to keep your phone in your pocket though when you play for it to work?

I was also intrigued so I went to golf galaxy to hit them. For some reason they had a couple of the new F9 Speedbacks and I found them to be far superior to their current F8 version. It is derived from the current irons Bryson DeChambeau is using. It has a lower center of gravity and feels great. I had no problem hitting a 5 iron and the launch angle is significantly better than my current irons. They are supposed to be available in the second week of January. I had so much confidence in the long irons I am going to order a 4-GW set and throw out my hybrids. Here is a great video on hitting Bryson's actual irons and it will definitely get you psyched. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXAj8mblhFQ I am also going to order oversized grips, I do have big hands.

What shafts did everyone get? I went with stock stiff assuming that the stock had some sort of special technology. I called up Cobra today and they told me its all in the head. Wish I would have gone with the UST recoil 450 esLast edited by htdumps; 12-19-2018, 07:01 AM.

I ordered mine with the stock regular shafts. When I hit the F8 in the store, the stiff felt a bit heavy. I use KBS tour 90 on my AP3 set and they supposedly are 102g shafts and that's what the cobra website listed the regular AMT shafts in that range. I think adding all that weight in the heads of the one length makes them feel a bit heavier to swing in the low irons or it was just my brain telling me that who knows lol..

I'm playing my best golf so far. That's why it's time for a change lol. I just ordered the cobra golf forged tech one black. If I get them in time I will do a comparison against my Nike vapor fly pro irons

I'll do the same vs my Tilteist AP3 irons.
I already hit some in the golf store and the lofts between my 5 iron and the cobra is 3 degrees so essential the cobra is a 4 iron. I was getting it over 200 yards every time and like 206-212 with roll out on some. Not sure I need that much club from a 5 iron but hopefully the rest of the set fills in the gaps nicely

The health / longevity issues are supposed to be good for long term, as the spine angle is basically being used at the same angle each time so less wear and tear. Probably more important for 13 year olds+
I think Tigers back issues and Rorys health issues have switched on a light, more and more devices are looking into the bio-mechanics, such as the Smart2Move force plates, the data is helping coaches reduce the risk of injury and long term wear.
All good!

Cobra told me different. If you go to the custom set builder on their website they offer a lot of different shafts.Originally posted by robpf View PostI would definitely go with their steel shafts. They are custom tuned to the iron length with the longer irons being lighter and the short irons and wedges heavier

Really depends on how well you hit your 7 iron. Its my favorite club so the transition was seamless. Here is my gapping:Originally posted by Fantastish View PostI am considering single length irons for my kids. I am not sure if this is something I should try. I have really improved with the clubs I have. Will single length continue the improvement?
85 mph is my average swing speed with all my irons.
9i 140y
8i 150y
7i 160y
6i 170y
5i 180y
4i 200y
The ball flight is high 30-35 yards

That looks pretty good. Can't ask for a better gapping than that really.
How does it feel hitting chips around the green? Do you carry another normal wedge for that or do you use the one length?
My clubs are coming tomorrow but golf season is over here, I played yesterday outdoors and couldn't even get a tee in the ground it was so frozen lol.
I'm sure I'll get used to the one length over the winter but chipping is one thing in the sim that doesn't translate over to the real course for me honestly. It's all feel outside and inside it's all about numbers you need to hit it..

I got mine yesterday as well. Still in the box. Played a Christmas tournament in the poring rain outside today. I will do a head to head with my clubs next week. Will compare 5-pw and post the skytrak data as soon as I get it done.

Did you get a chance to hit your clubs yet? I love them so far, I just have to get the distances down. I'm definitely getting less yardage from the PW and 9 iron but more yardage from everything else .
My Ap3 set was a 43 degree PW which is ridiculous anyway and the Cobra is 45 so I'm down about 6 yards but the ball goes so high and the spin is upwards of 10k which is making the ball spin back in the sim so I'm losing another yard or 2 with that happening. My 9 iron is down about 9 yards from my AP3 set which is causing issues because for some reason I'm hitting the 8 iron like 155'sh and the 9 only around 134-135.. gonna take them to the gold store and have the lofts checked and maybe adjust a couple a degree or 2 if possible to close the gap issues.

In fact I did. Well part one of it. I hit the first 7 iron and I have to say they feel great on a good strike. I always had issues with low backspin. I'm a "clean picker on the course and only get divits when I hit behind the ball lol. Can't take a good divit to save my life. I'm a mid teens handicap in real life and my biggest issue is consistency. Especially with my long irons. That's why I choose to buy these irons to test. Yesterday after having them for 3 days and couldn't hit them because of a cold I had enough. Still got a cold but couldn't wait any longer.
But here the facts:
Setup :
Skytrak
Fiberbuild hitting strip
Chrome soft x ball
Nike vapor fly pro irons with xp95 steel shaft
Vs
Cobra forged tech one irons with XP tour steel shaft
I got the details attached. Like I said I have issues with low backspin. I hit 7-8 shots each club and took the 5 best. Started with the Nike and the corresponding cobra right after. First up were the two 7 irons because they are the same length. Then PW and up from there.
PW and 9 iron the cobra had higher backspin at about the same carry so that's great
8 und 6 they both has about the same spin at the same carry.
After the 6 iron and plenty of no reads on the Nike 5 I ran out of guice. Just fumes left. Doing all in one run was a little much. Especially because I also warmed up and finished the 3 round of this weeks tournament as well. So I will do part 2 of this test with 6 iron again and then 5 and 4.
I couldn't add the csv data here so this is the link to the Dropbox folder :
I just added 5 and 4 iron to the Dropbox folderLast edited by Sascha1818; 12-29-2018, 02:26 PM.
