  • Huge issue need help dialing in distance

Do I have a problem my striking is great, my ball spin control are decent to good. I tend to alternate, slight left slight right slight left slight right... Problem is I don't know my distances either.

My buggiest problem actually is that I don't know my distances. I need something to help me track my distances, i'm a numbers guy. I need to see numbers to memorize them, I hate guessing how far a ball went at the range. Im actually horrible at guessing how far my balls flys, I guess it's depth perception issues.

Anyway I need a device to help me dial in. Any one have suggestions?

I looked into a few cheap things but they aren't very accurate... Like the SC200 I called them and they said its 5-10 years off. So that doesn't seem like a good option for $350 lol

I use both the GPS range finder app and the Game Golf app on my phone, not both at the same time, but found they both do a good job for me, and they are free.

Maybe I stated it unclearly I meant how far I hit each club.. I am not usually aware of how far I hit my clubs I can't tell and therefore when i'm on the course and I know i'm 170 out I guess what club and 90% of the time i'm wrong

I think GolfNow.com is running a special on SkyGolf's Game Tracker 2...these use little RFIDs that screw into your club grip, and a device on your belt to read the club (which club it is) and to accurately measure your GPS location (much better than your smartphone GPS), and an app on your phone by which you communicate with SkyGolf during or after your round (to analyze your club distances and also keep track of your golf rounds. You can also use the phone app during your round to accurately show your position on the course and to measure to targets...and it is using the accurate GPS data from the Game Tracker device.

I got this Game Tracker thingee because I did not trust my SkyTrak launch monitor distances. What I found is that under dry conditions in Texas we get longer roll outs than SkyTrak figures. Meanwhile, given the number of real golf shots that end up in the water, I had to agree the SkyTrak was likely right on my ball carries. I also bought the Excel app, "OptimalGolf," to input SkyTrak ball speed and flight data, and that shows differences of no more than a yard distance. So...with regard to SkyTrak, if the ball speed is accurate, the result is accurate.

Yea so would you recommend the SkyCaddie GT1 GPS Booster, or the Skytrak then? Because truth be told I don't like to have a lot of technology on me when I play golf. I mean if its worth it the SkyCaddie GT1 GPS Booster would save a lot of money vs the skytrak so I would go for that. But whats your opinion on the two.

SkyTrak for your in home simulator...have fun! Game Tracker if you want reliable measurements on the course...plus, you can keep your scores in SkyGolf, get analyses for your real life game, and get a handicap number. No favorite.

I don't really see why you need to buy anything. If you guess a club for a given distance and come up short or long then you got the answer for that club. After a round or two you'll have all your clubs figured out.

FaultyClubs Valid point. I don't say I NEED to buy something. This is the only thing, I have spent most of my life as an athlete who was highly competitive in many sports. With baseball swing coaches and basketball shooting coaches in college. It was always a matter of tracking stats, weight distribution etc. I always found numbers to be easy for me to memorize when I saw them written down.

My problem when I play golf is I'll play with my pops and his friends and they go, ok so hole is 145 to the front 150 to the center what are you hitting... and I go PW. But truth be told i'm guessing. Sometimes the PW goes less then that sometimes it goes more then that. I have no idea how much further or how much longer because I have never seen the numbers.

The reason I mentioned my depth perception issue is because once the ball fly's more then 150 yards my eyes only see 50 yard increments i'm like oh it looks like that flew (150,200,250,300...) lol you know what I mean? Some guys I have played with are like oh that was about 170 carry and i'm like.. "Yea? How could you tell?"

I don't Need to buy something but I was hoping there was something cheap the could help me practice with a little more purpose/ data.

Buy a range finder - shoot things and check where you landed based on what you shot.. this is how most guys figure out theyre distances.. shorter or longer has to do with quality of strike and speed..

I know my pured number on the button for all my clubs.

I carry my 52 119 on the button in case your interested 😂

If you have an Android phone you can download GolfPad GPS. It's free you, can get exact measurements with it. If you decide to purchase the devices that go into the end of the club they are only $99.
