  • launch monitor stats

I've been looking all over the internet trying to find some optimal launch angle numbers for given clubs. The one that I chart that I keep finding everywhere is the trackman PGA tour stats. But that chart doesn't have any data for gap wedge, SW or loft wedge. I'd also be interested to see optimal launch angle data for a flighted loft wedge (some people call it a knock down wedge). When I hit a flighted loft wedge in between 60- 80 yards, I generally see a launch angle between 30 and 31*. Taking a regular swing I might see 34 or 35* launch angle.

I'm also curious about acceptable ranges for spin axis %. + or -2 or 3%?

Other then optimizing distance for a driver, there are no optimal numbers for the rest of the clubs. It's really just a matter of finding a balance between distance and distance control (decent angle/spin) that works best for your swing and your game and getting useful distance gaping through the set. And those tour numbers are just averages, you'll find even for tour players those numbers can vary widely.

Also when it comes to iron spin - realize the mat can have a big influence on spin (and launch) - even up to a couple thousand rpm's.
