  • 75" TV

Hi all, I just had my massive new TV delivered and it's massive... and cheaper than a projector! Just needs a net in front of it and TGC2019 and it will go off I think! Just wondering if anyone has tried that instead of projector screen for their sims. I know you can get 85" now and even 100" - but they are expensive. You can now get cheap 75" TVs here in Aus for less than $700 USD

An impact screen will look way better.... You will have to have the net at least 2ft or so in front of the TV to not have insane bounce back... Sorry man, but I think this will be horrible lol.

I was assuming he was going to put next to in on the wall or on a stand but if the plan is to hit AT it...not so sure. All I can say is I would like to see the pics once it’s done.

I use a TV, but its to the side and out of the way. I thought of maybe putting it at an angle high and from the ceiling on the top, but ultimately ruled that out because of lob shots. I think you are better off putting it to the side if I were you, or else you are going to be reminding us all of those viral video's on YouTube a few years ago with kids throwing Nintendo Wi controllers right into the screen.

I think you should go for it. I don't see any negatives to doing it

I liked your curved screen idea better. This sounds like a terrible idea in comparison.

HI gang, as some may have seen in another thread - I am building a new curved screen set up for my venue at 24-7.golf (new URL). the idea is take up less room

When I first got my Optishot, I used my projector on the wall with a net in front of that.....It sucked. Now, I have a monitor off to the side and hit into the net, then just watch the screen.
The projector is now waiting till the impact screen gets here.

The problem with BIG TVs is that they start to get more fragile since there's less frame around it. A shank, a bounced flop shot around the room, or even a partially failed net would have a huge chance of putting the TV out of commission. That's for both behind the net AND to the side, and heck, even to the back. Not sure I can recommend it - I've seen even Rory and Rahm shank balls in the last year.

                Bigger TV = bigger Target.

Go all out and buy some LED Billboard panels and make a huge screen put a net in front of it then become the envy of everyone here. A cheaper option would to buy 4 75" tvs and use this: https://www.amazon.com/Link-MI-Contr...24632646&psc=1

Thanks for the interesting comments! :P

Yeah curved screen ended up a pain in the butt... TV on the side is probably a smarter idea but I will try at some point with a net in front of it. I've used a net for years without any ball going through it so there is no issues there, not sure why everyone is so hung up about damage to the TV. I've only been building sims for 9 years - this is not the craziest idea i've tried! :P Thought about 3 x 75" TVs turned on side to make a semi-curved surface but overall it's still a work in progress.

Not a bad solution... Quick and dirty way to get there. Unlikely that a ball goes through a good net. Won’t look as good as the projector due to the net in front, but at that size, it won’t be as bad as other setups like this that we’ve seen. Good luck with it!
