  • Protee and Flightscope together. Anyone calibrated one against the other???

I have the luxury of having my protee system working and I have enough room for using flightscope in the same room. I know that with drivers I may not get enough distance for 2 full revolutions so I may be estimating, but the other clubs I should be able to get a good reading from flightscope as well as my protee. Has anyone ever calibrated their protee with flightscope? If so, any guidance would be appreciated. What I wonder is:

    1. distance should be pretty easy with adjusting the drag for each club. Correct?

    2. adjusting the spin calculation. should I bother?? If so, how? Should I do that before or after adjusting drag? wouldn't spin adjustments affect distance?

    3. Adjusting club or ball speed. Should I bother? If so, how.

If anyone has done this, please help me out. I will be using 2 different computers so I can compare the same shots.

    Thanks,
    Kent

hey boerdoc, i realize you posted this a long time ago but i recently discovered that my protee system is giving me ball speeds that are too high. did you ever do a head to head comparison with flightscope and if so what were your results? what did you end up adjusting ball speed and drag to in the protee interface?

I never made adjustments to spin, drag or ball speed. I did comparisons but not a thorough analysis. I just compared distances and they were similar.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I thought it relevant with the current posts going around.

I decided to do a comparison on Flightscope and Protee.

My son did the hitting on the wedge and 8 iron, we both hit drivers, he hit 2 and I hit 5. 4 wedge shots and 4# 8 irons. 7 driver shots. We used a Callaway supersoft ball. We eliminated any thin shots or heavy shots on the wedge and 8 iron. The ball was marked with a fresh silver dot for accurate flight scope pickup. Ball to screen distance is 9 feet. I have a Flightscope KUDU. Old model but works well.
The measurements are on the same shots read by both systems at the same time. Flightscope software version 10 PC version and latest firmware updates.

        The 52 degree sand wedge.

        Spin LA Carry total

        Protee avg. 6817 27 110 120
        Flightscope 7092 26.28 106 115

        8 iron

        Protee 7001 17.75 136 147
        Flightscope 4923 17.95 127 147

        Driver

        Protee 3368 14.86 229 245
        Flightscope 3918 13.25 119 227

I found that I was hitting down on my driver by 5 *. Thus the high spin on drives. This needs work.
Why did he have such high spin numbers for the 8 on the protee, I do not know. The spins were 7862, 6640, 6382, 7119. So consistently high relative to Flightscope
All my protee settings are at default for ball drag, speed etc.

What to make of it. As a high handicapper I am trying to get my club path and contact consistent. Protee works great for that as well as giving me the best simulation experience around. Flightscope may give spin readings but until I get my swing correct my spin readings are secondary importance.

        Any thoughts let me know.

I do not understand with the spin rating being accurate on the 8i flightscope the spin rate on the protee is in the delta of being true to what that club should be at on a normal swing the flightscope is looking more like a 5 I. But thank you Boer on this I analyze to much I think and I like seeing other people's data to confirm questions I have been processing internally. I would love to see more data and might have to charge up my skytrak for the first time in many months

from the testing i did with protee against skytrak, it appears that ball speed on protee is a little juiced but the flight algorithm in tgc compensates for it. i believe that's why gc2 and skytrak need a little boost (2%) when playing tgc.

i just got my es16 today but they forgot my battery. they are sending it next day saturday delivery so i'll be testing it against protee this weekend and see how it compares.

Here a test of Flightscope with GC2 I did. It's along the same lines.
