  • New user question!

Hello All, In the process of figuring out which sim to go with in the very near future. Basically have it narrowed down to Forsight or Par T.

I'm somewhat of a range rat, so I'm going to be doing a lot with spin rate, side spin and club head movement through impact, and maybe some shaft fittings for friends. The big issue(for me) with the Forsight is that to get the "good" club data you need the HMT camera along with the GC2, which is another 7 grand. I am planning on joining the TGC for online play as well.

So here's my question..While watching some of the youtube videos on the TGC webpage, a couple of people were using GC2's WITHOUT the HMT camera's, but after every shot they made, the swing data that appears on the screen had spin rates, club path, launch angles and club face open/close. I thought you had to have the HMT to receive that kind of data from the GC2, or does the TGC pick it up from the machine, And if so, would it be accurate? I could be wrong about what exactly the GC2 picks up without the HMT, but if it did pick-up that kind of info , what would the point of buying the HMT?

I'm sure ill have many more questions, but this one is really bothering me! lol

Thanks in advance for the replies!!

I am new to the GC2 and HMT and Mhunt or other users who have been using the gc2 would know more but there are two things that you get out of the analysis some are actual and some are calculated, for example the GC2 ball measurements are actual and the club data is calculated as with the protee it is the opposite the club data is actual and the ball is calculated

THANK YOU for the reply. I just re-posted this under the "GC2" forum hoping to get an answer. Getting down to purchase time and getting a little anxious. lol

So just to be clear, the data that was coming up on their screen after the shot was from the GC2, but are just calculations?

only for the club data but this is a basis on what the actual ball was doing. as my protee does the same thing my club swing and launch off the cams determines the ball spin

Got it. Another question if you dont mind? You said in your first reply that its the opposite with the protee. Is that only if you dont have both of the cameras? Also, my biggest hangup on the protee is the hitting/sensor mat. It always looks like the ball is sitting down in the grass, kind of like you're hitting out of rough. Does the mat hold up pretty well from what you've seen/heard?

As of now the cams work with launch angle and direction of ball the sensor works in unison with that data The fiberbuilt hitting mat i really like its a great option on the protee and is very durable and ball sits great on it and it does not punish fat shots and I can dig through my wedge really well. A lot of launch monitor users use this also as it helps the wrists and elbows putting is not the greatest but thats why protee has a putting sensor that is located different and is very nice option.

Sorry again, just want to make sure im understanding this. The fiberbuilt mat is the one that comes with the Protee sensor in it, or its an option to upgrade to when buying the ProTee?

Thanks again, really appreciate the input. Aeroburner(or anybody else), since you have experience in both the ProTee and GC2, I thought I'd list a few things that I have been debating on, and you could just put a P or G next to the item you prefer, or a short comment. I understand that some questions aren't as simple as a, quick this or that, and many of them are personal preference, and really want someone spending there day doing all the work for me, but any info I could gather without searching every forum(which Iv been doing the last two days) would help with my decision.

                    online play-
                    course play-
                    swing work on range-
                    accuracy(either club/ball)-
durability of equipment(mostly ProTee sensor mat)-
                    TGC or FSX-

Another thing that is driving me crazy is, I wish I never joined these forums, because now after all of my snooping around, I have noticed people talking about new sim/equipment/software, which now has me wondering if I should wait. If anybody has the names of any new tech coming out, I would love to hear about it. I.e names, companies, dates, price, etc... I obviously dont want to spend 6 or 7 gs on something that will be out dated in a year. Again, any info/imput on ANYTHING sim related would be great, and very much appreciated.

Sorry about all the newbee questions...And to think about all the projector, impact screen, frames, and pc hardware questions i still have. . Not to mention the the $4,000 shed I'm purchasing to put this in! Guess i'm not as close as I thought I was! lol
