  • Protee Left/Righty Offset Setup

Can anyone help me understand if having my hitting sensor offset creates any issues with Protee and TGC? Ive searched through other posts but still looking for answer. I have a 10' x 10' screen, projector is centered on screen. I placed my two halogen lights and hitting sensor to the right 1' for more room for the right handed golfer. I only have one vertical camera placed to the left (behind and forward of right handed golfer) My son is 9 and a lefty the setup works well as I have more room for the left handed golfer with no wall on this side. So my opinion is as long as you square up and hit shots with a square club face the ball should go straight? I do understand that you could tend to move shoulders to the left to line up with flag but I try to just get my line and hit straight through impact. I have had a few friends over and their iron shots to the green generally are missed left which has me wondering if they are opening shoulders due to offset? I understand that the Protee System doesn't have an offset feature but the TGC has a HUD adjustment but all this does is move the hole information closer to the center of the screen, correct? So other that beating up the right center of the impact screen, I don't see any issues but I play a few times a week and maybe I'm used to the offset?

Another reason for the post is if I add a putting sensor I would obviously center it on the screen and then move the forward light so it is centered over the putting sensor or can I just adjust the track head at an angle to center the light beam on the putting sensor? I know the halogen lighting placement is CRITICAL to everything working correctly so I'm just trying to plan ahead. Does the putting sensor even rely on the halogen lighting beam placement or is this not as critical?

    As always thanks for help.

send some pics of your set up and yes the halogen is important above the putting sensor, trying to figure why you offset real quick.

Due to space limitations on my first setup, i was also offset and noticed that if i didn't really focus on hitting square to the target line, i would end up pulling the ball left towards the middle of the screen. You are probably more used to your setup vs your friends who may be lining up towards the hole instead of square to the floor sensor.

Attached is the platform and screen, all 10' x 10' that sits in my garage bay. Due to wall on left I offset sensor 1' off center to right.

It's going to be really tight with only 6 feet behind you but you must be ok with that. Back to hitting it straight...I have an offset and it was a little tricky not hitting toward the middle of the screen though others said they didn't have that issue. since tgc came up with the offset feature it has been much better.

I have about 9' to the left but the wall comes in at the very back part of my swing to 7', it hasn't been an issue and I don't think about it. On the TGC HUD adjustment, again this is only bringing the information into the middle of the screen from what I can tell, it has nothing to do with hitting from the offset position?

That's right, the HUD adjustment is unrelated to the offset adjustment. You need to find the offset setting so keep looking.

That said, I hit offset and just line up with my sensor. Never look at the screen for alignment. It works great for me in fact I tried the offset feature and didn't like it so turned it off.

Not sure what you are saying about offset position on screen then. I'm saying that my aiming circle and straight view of the holes and flag are displayed further to the right and in the settings perfectly aligned with my h cam at around 1 1/2 feet offset from the right. When I hit straight from my sensor mat, the vision and flight are straight whereas before, they would start from the middle of the screen. It has everything to do with the offset. It pulls the features to the right as much as you set it to based on your offset setting. Great feature!

I searched through the settings and never found anything other than HUD Offset? I've adjusted this to max to bring the hole info more to the center but I don't see anything that adjusts the aiming to be offset?

I'm also still wondering about the putting sensor? If I install the putting sensor 1' in front of the hitting sensor to the back edge of the putting sensor and then center the putting sensor on my platform do I need to adjust the front halogen light to be directly over the putting sensor? Again, right now my halogen light track is about 1' off center of the screen.

It is my understanding that both lights are very important to the cameras working correctly. They have to be directly over the sensors so no sideways shadows are created. Pro-Tee wants them to inline. I think you should keep your setup as is hopefully your friends that come over will learn to line up to the hitting mat and not the screen. You could always put a line on the mat to aid them in this, easier way to solve problem. I guess you could always tear down the wall move it over and build a new one. (LOL)

Horizontal camera offset in the display settings. Mine is set to .52 yards.

Thanks for the help. Obviously I don't have the most recent upgrade or something as I do not have the horizontal camera offset adjustment. I'll check with TGC and see what's up?

Protee sent me Version 3.0 upgrade and now I have the horizontal camera offset. Not sure why my system which is only 11 months old wasnt packaged with the most recent version but all is good now.
