  • Protee VX Mounting Question

While I wait on UPS to sort out where exactly my VX is (very frustrating hopefully resolved soon, but Protee has been very helpful so far) I am measuring/marking to save time for when it actually gets delivered.

Question is - when you measure where to mount the vx, do you measure from the center of the hitting area? If so does this mean unit will see equal distance horizontally and vertically from that point? (So 10.5 inches each way across and 12.5 each way long) I have the fiber built player preferred mat with a 2x4 hitting strip. Im not too concerned about the horizontal measurement (I can scoot the mat either way if needed), but more vertically I want to maximize the hitting space.

Also, did anyone use the provided drywall anchors? I was planning on trying to hit a joist or putting cleat across the joists if needed.

You want the edge of the mount closest to the ball to be between 3'3" and 3'7" from the where you will hit the ball from. It comes with anchors but if mounting in Drywall I recommend SnapToggle Drywall anchors. I use them in construction and they are great.

The hitting area is 21x24" i think if mounted at 10' and less if less.

And I presume that you try to place your ball in the middle of the hitting square?

Not really. It’s a big hitting area. I put it anywhere there.

Protee confirmed that the distance from hitting area should be from the centre of the unit. That is if you want to be precise about the hitting area. Otherwise the area is large enough for a bit of leeway.

I used the drywall anchors. The way my VX setup the center line of the mount was the only thing on a joist which makes sense since it was in line with my projector which was mounted into a joist. The unit isn't wide enough to catch the next joists.

I did put an additional screw into the joist through the arrow cutout in the mount. I feel better that I've got at least one point in solid wood.

      Hello,

I just ordered my ProTee VX and was wondering on the 10 foot measurement from the floor to the unit. Is it 10 feet from the floor to the bottom of the unit or middle of the unit or?
