  • Screen resolution

Hi, I think I read in a couple of posts that all screens need to be the same resolution. I am looking at getting a dell alienware 4080 laptop as the PC for the VX but it's screen res is qhd+ and not 4k - does that mean that I may have issues with the projector set to 4k? Thanks.

I thought so too but have gone back to diff res screens and no issues.

I have an Alienware M18 laptop with a 4090 GPU. My Murphy Golf simulator screen is 10x8, and I run a custom resolution to fill the screen with my 4K projector, using 16x10 aspect ratio. Essentially needed to bring the 2 sides in a little bit after I filled the screen vertically. Windows and the Nvidia control panel each easily support a myriad of pre-configured resolutions as well as custom resolutions. What you will need to use is dependent on your projector, projector placement, screen size, etc.

Hi Mike, how is this computer running for you? Is it able to handle 4k on GSPro well?

Thanks Mike. I take it you have a different res on your monitor and no issues? If so then that's good to hear as there is advice out there to have same res on both when people experience certain problems. Also, no overheating issues / thermal throttling / frame rate drops etc?

Any issues you might run into would be due to mirroring your screen since they both would need to be 4K or 1080p etc.. If you extend your screen it does not matter what resolution your laptop is.
