What graphics card is everyone using?

What cards are you guys using with your VX monitors? I don't see much discussion comparing the results with a x060 vs x070 vs x080.

My computer has a 2070 super card. Are there significant gains to be had upgrading to a computer with a 4080 card? What noticeably changes with a higher end graphics card?

I have a 2070 card as well. It runs TGC2019 great.

The 2070 seems to work just fine for me too. I wonder if I gain anything moving to something like a 4080?

I can’t speak to the performance running sim software as I don’t have mine setup yet, but speaking on gaming in general the performance increase from a 2070 to a 4080 is night and day

I don't play video games so don't have much experience with graphics cards. The golf sim software is pretty much just has a nice golf course background and a streak that flies through the air when you hit a ball. What improves? The only thing I can think of is my golf course will look even more real with a 4080. Is that possible?

I’ve built multiple high end gaming PCs, but depending on how gpu heavy your sim software is, you’re likely not going to see much improvement . The 2070 is still a pretty decent card even for actual gaming tho.

a better card will allow you to run in higher resolution (ie 4k) that some lower end cards may struggle to support without lagginess. some courses on gspro are quite demanding graphically so might be annoyingly slow to render and, some lm's use the card for AI (eg protee vx) so add some graphical requirement. given how much a full sim costs, there isnt much point in saving a few hundred and possibly getting an unsatisfactory result imo.

I guess my card is a 2070 super and it's in a gaming PC I bought during covid for a racing simulator setup. It's not a few hundred buck to upgrade, but probably an entire new $2,500 computer.

you can upgrade just the gpu, you don’t have to purchase a whole new PC. Depending on what the other specs of the PC are you may some bottleneck but it shouldn’t be that bad.

if performance with your current card is acceptable and your graphics settings are maxed out relative to your projector native resolution then no need to upgrade. if your graphics settings arent at max and it struggles if you set them higher then you could benefit but whether it is worth it for you is quite subjective so your call.
