new install questions: mainly height related basement

Hello all... first thanks for reading..

my install is a tough one... my ceiling is 8 foot by 8 inches from hitting area to ceiling. I get all the warnings about full swing issues but for some reason I can swing driver without issues... not even close.

but, when I was researching, AI told me to check the joists in the ceiling and if running left to right, could recess the protee just 3 inches. This would get me in range and 3 inches won't be high enough to interfere with cameras.

I do wonder how the mounting plate would work since it would need to be mounting from one of the sides.

Has anyone ever tried to mount from the side? im assuming leaving the open side of way free for connections...

    any thoughts from the group?

    thanks!!

I recently worked on a basement remodeling project, and ceiling clearance can definitely be tricky when you’re trying to fit equipment into a limited space. Before cutting into the ceiling, I’d double-check the joist layout and the manufacturer’s mounting requirements. A side-mounted setup might be possible, but I’d make sure the unit stays properly supported and that the cameras have enough clearance. https://thaconstruction.com/
