ProTee h cam putting mode like GSA?

ProTee. I wrote an email a few months back about a putting mode for the ProTee system using the h cam and was under the impression you were going to look into it. It kind of is in the forefront now with Keither mentioning his GSA uses the h cam for putting. The ProTee putting sensor is all good and fine but like I wrote in that other rather long thread about sky trac putting, if it is pushed or pulled it is 4 degrees (see my shot data). Could this be implemented so I do not have to go with the straight HA solution?
    thanks.

I'd be interested in that also so I can use my own putting green with distance markers. It seems like it'd be easy to implement. Use the microphone as a trigger. Speed and path determined by cam.

At first GSA used both cameras for putting. Vcam for speed and Hcam for direction. A while back they created a putting mode that just used the Hcam. Vcam FOV needs to be raised so a rolling ball is not picked up. Hcam exposure time is increased by a lot to increase the accuracy. Even though the putt may only be 8mph, the ball trace is 5-7 inches long. This provides accuracy within 1/10 degrees for direction and within +/- 1/10 mph for speed. This also allows you to putt from a smooth surface ahead of your hitting mat. Not putting over a change in material brings a lot to the putting experience. Everyone who putts on my sim comments on how accurate it feels. I am sure that ProTee could manage to implement Hcam putting. A dream come true scenario would be if ProTee could sell Hcams to Launch monitor users for more accurate putting. LM's need putting forgiveness to keep everyone sane. The Hcam addition would also take the LM's HA accuracy to a whole new level. HA is the only thing that LM's have trouble with. This could take the +/- 1 degree ( or more) to less than 1/10 of a degree for all shots, not just putting.

I would love to get HA improvement. Lots of times on chips, I'll hit it straight, but the result goes offline right, and it's almost always to the right with ST.

If ProTee controls the interface for Skytrak, GC2 , and ES16, it wouldn't be impossible to add an Hcam to these systems. HA data sent to TGC would come from the Hcam rather than the LM. Putting mode could disable the LM altogether and get speed and direction from the Hcam. That would be an excellent addition to any LM. My system has very accurate HA. Chipping is very challenging and accurate. If ProTee could add a Hcam to the LM's, they would sell a lot of cameras.... Who wouldn't pay a $1000 to go from +/- 2 degrees to +/- 0.1 degrees?

      It certainly is not impossible.

That would be awesome keither. Seems like a great way for protee to sell some hardware? I'd pony up today if it was available!

Would it possible to use my GSA H-cam for this?

Not sure if you can run two interfaces with TGC at the same time. GSA would have to use their control panel for your GC2. If Martin would be up for it..... He would sell a lot of Hcams. Your GC2 is accurate within +/- 1 degree so it is better than most LM's. I personally love the GC2. I have asked Martin to send me a LX launch monitor to test. With GSA, you can add the LX LM to my PX5 system. Accurate ball spin would be a great addition to my PX5 sim. $1500 for me to add a LX launch monitor to my PX 5 system..... that would make it a PX perfect......IMO. Martin has some videos on YouTube showing the accuracy of spin measurement of his ball spin camera and LX monitor.....

I'm glad you all resurrected this thread, it was meant for the poor folk that don't have a putting solution for skytrak and seems skytrak isn't interested in helping. With the help of Boerdoc I was able to figure out how to calibrate my putting sensor to 1 degree rather than 4. .1 would be better though but I am happy with what I have now. As far as just plugging in an h cam without protee help I don't think it can be done. The software would need to know to use lm for regular shots and h cam for putting and perhaps chipping. Wouldn't think it would be too difficult. I hear even trugolf sells a separate putting device for their system. Crazy how skytrak can bill themselves as a simulation device since they charge to use sim sw but won't give owners a method to putt. I was shocked to hear their putting was so sorry. I would be upset if I was a skytrak owner.

Glad to hear you got your putting tightened up Bnorman. It is sad that Skytrak putting direction is so terrible. It's also sad that we were so uninformed going in.

This is my opinion. Skytrak started out as a launch monitor and a driving range app. No putting planned or needed. Then, at the many requests of owners added sim capability. So they had to figure out a way to read putts. And some "messaging" was done to make direction decent. That was a failed attempt though.

It seems to me Protee could add this H-cam fairly easy. TGC already switches to "putting mode" when that club is selected. Why couldn't it just read the hcam when it switches modes and ignore the Skytrak?

Yeah I agree they started out that way but when they charge extra to be a sim they should support that. Again no sweat off my titleists but sky trac owners should hold them accountable, especially when skytrak has the balls to charge them extra for it.

If you look how successful the tour has become, it is clear that the putting experience has become a very important part of the sim. When I started 20 months ago, there were only 20-30 players on the tour. Now we have hundreds. I am thinking long and hard about adding a Launch monitor to my PX5 system. I would have it measuring spin only. Another $1500 for the GSA LX launch monitor would have my system measuring everything and calculating nothing. If ProTee chooses to produce the Hcam add on, there would be a flood of orders to get the added accuracy.

Would such an add on for spin work with the ProTee system?

I absolutely agree. I am very happy with the 0 HA compared to what the putting used to be, but its still missing that key element that this would solve! I really hope they decide to proceed with this.

Don't know about that Bnorman...... With GSA you can add a LM to the mat or just add a spin camera . I am on the fence on how I will add spin to my sim.....if at all. The basic LX lite can be had for $ 1500 and that will give me accurate spin RPM and axis. The ball spin dual camera is almost twice that.
I am not sure if this is even feasible...... however, if it is, it could mean a whole new level of accuracy for sims.
    Working...
