Adding H cam later

I'm probably going to pull the trigger on a protee base package. It doesn't include the H cam. What am I missing without it. I see its a machine vision camera with special lens. Is there a lower cost method of getting this camera then $500 if I'm willing to DIY.

yes you can buy it separately and save 150 or so but you can use the PROTEE system with out it just fine its a great system

IMO the h cam adds a LOT to the system as far as azimuth accuracy. When it's just using the sensor tracking it isn't hearty as accurate. There are cheaper options. I use the same camera I do for my vcam.

I was like you, and got the package without the hcam. I had an old webcam laying around and thought, humm, wonder if this would work. Sure enough it works great for the hcam. Plus it has a microphone on it so I can provide voice commands. IMO definitely no need for the $500 camera, when my $50 webcam works perfect.
