  • golf ball quality

Question. Does the quality of the golf ball matter? This evening we gamed some newer less used balls and found our ball to travel a little different. We had been using some beat up balls of the same type, which made us wonder if quality of the ball and ball type could have some effect on shots? Again our current set up is without cameras or putting sensors.

Shouldn't make a difference. With the vcam, maybe.

Maybe a little with ball speed and launch angle. Wouldn't think it would be that noticeable unless you are going from real ball to limited flight ball.

Oh I disagree. When my balls get all furry from being hit for a couple weeks I toss them and put in some new ones and I can see the difference in yardage. If I hit a hard Titelist ball like a pro v 1 just like in real life my shots are shorter on the sim. Not as drastic on the sim but noticeably shorter. If I hit a softer ball like a Bridgstone b330rs or a Nike vapor black I am 5-10 yards longer. How can it not be a factor if the sim is measuring ball speed.

I will let you in on a little secret I use. If I am in a spot in between clubs I choose the longer one and use a hard ball like a pro v 1. Normally if I hit it pure the yardage is spot on directly in between the clubs.

At my place we have 7-10 kinds of balls ready for play because everyone likes to hit their own brand. At the end of the season I have buckets of torn up balls. I personally go through 60 balls every winter. At the indoor golf spot in Siouxfalls he told me he changes the balls every week. He says that is wh

Jame's Protee doesn't have the LA camera. So, on his system, it won't make much of a difference, since LA is estimated. The current ball speed method uses the LA readings to fine tune the ball speed.

Just make sure if you use beat up balls there aren't rough spots on them (cuts, grooves, etc.) - not a good outcome hitting a speeding, spinning, cut ball into a screen
