  • Impact screen

I've contacted par 2 pro about purchasing some raw material for making a screen, they have not replied possibly because I want it shipping 2 the uk. I don't want to spend hundred on a pre made screen when it will be easy to make and be loads cheaper to make myself. The question I want answering is does anyone know the make / name of the material used to make the best quality Impact screens. I assume it's some kind of ballistic fabric.

Cory likely has not replied as he gets busy this time of the year. I would send him another note or try calling him. He will get back to you, but at times he admits things get crazy with his installs I believe.

I bought the hq2 raw from Cory and learned to sew. It took me 1 evening to finish. It is great and the same material as wcn pr100. Wcn buys from par2pro.

Look up my posts. I have some pics puff the same material.

The fabric I used is normally used for outdoor sun covers. No idea what the English word is but they typically cover patios.
Material is polyAcrylic and the weight is 240gr/m2. Cost 27€ / linear meter and is 3.2 meter wide. I used a color that is called Perl White. In reality it's like a glass of milk with 4% coffee.
As it turned out it works better than a bright white material. Balls leave faint stains when the top coat gets deposited on the screen. On a white screen those are visible. On my they are not.

I also have another material 9cm behind as a back stop. That is a 700gr/m2 glasfiber armed PVC. Custom made 4x3m with grommets etc .. 130€ incl. shipping.
Used the back stop as my screen for 1 year. It's indestructible but very loud and produces some nasty bounce backs.
So it got retired to serve as a back stop.
The back stop material is normally found on construction sites to cover material and other things. This one is the professional grade version that will last for many years in any climate. It's a bit unfortunate that it does not work well as a ball receiver because it's an amazing projector screen.

You should be able to find all of this in UK or US for a much lower price. Sweden is typically at least 30% higher cost compared to other EU countries. Compared to US is even worse.

The material I found initially and tested for a long time is 50% cotton and 50% nylon 250gr/m2. That is an amazing material and the best I have seen ever but only exists in 1,5m width. I use the black version for the part of the screen that stretches up along the ceiling. At some point I will try to join 2 x 1.5m pieces to sew a screen but this time I gave up. Way to hard for an noob tailor like me.

Pictures of Back stop and main screen during mounting. Both are suspended and free hanging so you can shoot a ball anywhere.
