  • LED InfraRed Illumination Light instead of ProTee halogens

Starting stages of designing a sim room and leaning towards a ProTee system. My understanding is that sensors are IR detectors and that halogen must be used to provide some IR. I've never been a fan of the blinding lighting in the AG booths at our local golf store. Has anybody played with using IR illuminators that are used for night vision cameras?

It would seem that would provide a good amount of "invisible" light without the glare and wash onto a screen.

Then again - would H and V cams do well with less visible light?

    Something like this:

Only US$10.55, buy IR 48 LED InfraRed Illumination Light for Night Vision (DC 12V 500mA) from DealExtreme with free shipping now.

Good question I have the protee with its lighting. Protee united would tell you no because they want you to use there lights. One thing I can say is that the lighting for the protee is probably the most important thing in order to make it work right. If the lighting isn't correct on this system it will not work the way it should. I have the halogen lights provided with independent switches and dimmers to control the lighting. Personally I would not use any other lighting other than ones that come with the system. It's is there for a reason and protee are the experts on this.. not to say that the light you show would not work, but best to use what the manufacturer has just to be on the safe side. This is what mine looks like with the lights on and how I play on it.

Reply appreciated - I was thinking some combination of the lights and IR illumination. However - I checked the specs of the point gray cameras and it looks like they are not very sensitive in the IR range (890nm) that the IR emitters throw.
