Works for me, but not my friend

This is baffling me. I just installed my protee system, and I've played a few 9's by myself, with my son, and with a friend. The system was working reasonably well for me and my son, but not my friend. No matter what he did, the system would not recognize his swing off the tee with a driver (any driver). His irons seems to work mostly okay, but still had a few missed shots. My son has a white-headed driver, I have a black-headed driver and they both register reasonably well (I say reasonably because I do get a few, maybe 1 in 15 driver swings not registering at all; I've never had a problem with my irons). My friend also has a black-headed driver, but even when he uses mine, it will not register his swing... I've checked lights and settings, and everything seems to be in good order (sensors are all registering properly, no overlap in lights, crisp shadows, etc). Even when viewing the captured camera images, both VCAM and HCAM seem to show good images and calculated angles.

Any suggestions how I might troubleshoot this issue?

I'd open a case, but given that it works pretty well for me and my son, I'm assuming there might be something else at play that I'm not considering.

Does your friend waggle? If you and your son do not waggle and your friend does, that might explain the issue. Bring up the protee interface and hit ALT-E to open the interface advanced settings. Find the line: Max_swing_tempo, and make sure its set to 99 to allow waggle.

I would say it's the opposite...I waggle, but my friend doesn't. Anyway, the max_swing_tempo was set to 4. I've set it to 99 and will test. I'm wondering now how this is supposed to work.

Also, this value is in a section of the settings that says not to edit directly and to use the interface. However, there is no place to edit it in the interface, that I can find. Perhaps an oversight. I'll have it tested and let you know. Thanks!

Update: I'm still waiting for my friend to drop by to check out the change, but after playing myself last night for about two hours, I didn't have a single missed strike. That's interesting, and I'll take that as a promising indication.

Update: Setting the max_swing_tempo to 99 fixed the problem for my friend. While it's been described to fix missed shots for people that waggle, this seems to confirm that it fixes missed shots for people that don't waggle. :-)
