    Extreme club face readings and false SS readings

    If you're constantly getting extreme face angle readings(+15*, +20*, etc..) and/or having a hard time getting the SS(sweet spot) detection adjusted correctly, your Protee circuit board might not have been aligned properly during a assembly.

    See example picture.



    As you can see, the sensors above are skewed to the right quite a bit. The club face sensors/timing sensors are the two in the picture above. They need to be centered or equal distance in relationship to the tee location. To fix this, you will have to either reposition the circuit board or the Fiberbuilt grass panels. Contact Protee support first before attempting to take your Protee apart.

    It's easy to do but if you don't have wild face reading issues, don't mess with this.

    If the circuit board was installed properly, you should be able to make SS corrections and club face adjustments in the settings file. See below:


    # SS_calculation:

      I am having issues with sweet spot detection, it is reporting way to many heel shots. I read the above and my sensor unit seems fine. I used a laser level and measured the actual distance of each sensor. I used a plastic tee above the sensor pad and looked on a tape measure at the exact spot the shadow hit the edge of each first sensor. Each shadow was exactly 5/8" away from center. Most of my readings are reported as 10 to 15mm off the heel on a perfect center hit. That is with zmax recommended settings of 2. I have tried 0 2 3 4 5 -5. 5 and -5 seem to have the most effect as you start to get extreme readings on the heel or toe. Not sure what setting to use here of if the interface code needs to be looked at. It's never consistent, sometimes it actually gives you a center hit when in fact it is off either the toe or heel. Attached are some pics. Note that I took the time to line up the club just to see what shadows were cast on a perfect center hit. I see the interface always adding a gear effect penalty on most of my shots. I am using Dr. Sholes spray as confirmation of a where I hit the ball off the face, no question something is wrong.

        What readings do you get with the setting at 5? And with settings at -2, -5? The next settings file will allow for a great range of adjustments.

        For right hander, heal shots will add fade spin and reduce yardage. Toe shots will add draw spin and increase yardage. This factor can be increased, decreased(gear_factor_correction) or turned off completely by setting gear_effect_factor to -2. -1 turns it on.

        Do me a favor. Try setting this to True and let me know what happens if anything.

          Did some additional testing and did not experience these issues with interface version 2.96k35. Suspecting this is a new issue in the TGC interface beta. Posted more detail in the beta tester issues thread.

            With 3.03, gear effect was being added in the opposite direction. Will be fixed in the next interface.

            Driver Sweet spot was off at first for me. After changing it to 4 and hitting a few balls, I change it back to 2 and is now back to normal.

              For now you can turn the gear effect off in the settings. Gear effect should b fixed soon.

                  Most of the time my results are prettying good but every once in a while I get something like this where the ball path from the hcam is straight, the ball hits the center of the screen but the club face reading seems off. I did open up the mat and center the sensor board a few weeks ago.

                  Any other thoughts?

                    I noticed similar results last night in my round with bpep. Hcam showed a straight ball, hit the center of the screen but was put in jail in the game

                    I assumed it was because my game was off but on second thought we should check this out. Can any of the lower handicap ProTee users take a look and let us know if 2.3 is now showing some erratic face to path numbers and also effecting ball flight?
