    V-cam problems

    I am having problems with v-cam setup--it is working on a basic level, but every now and then cannot get the launch angle.

    I changed to using PT5 method. Using sand-wedge it worked 5 times and then the 6th time it failed. Please see the attached images. I tried playing with all the settings (thresholds, sensitivity, etc.) but it never found the ball track. But the images all look good to me: very clear ball streak. I know there is the club face reflection, but I can't really get rid of that.

    [Note I initially posted on another website forum, but understand this is now the place to go.]

    Make the following changes:

    measurements=Imperial
    Launch_angle_limit=True

    You can do this from the within the interface by holding down ALT E. Save, exit, then restart the interface and make sure the changes took affect.

    Also, the camera section in the settings file appears to be messed up. Or did you mess up when posting the contents of the settings file?

      Just wondering what the Launch_angle_limit is when set to true. I was always under the impression that if you set it to false all launch angles would be used by the software.

        You would think so because that would make sense. But, I've found that some settings need to be set a certain way for it work correctly. I didn't write the code so I can't explain it.

        When the Launch_angle_limit=True, the Max_Vcam_limit setting is used.

          Here is a link for the extra settings for Protee. http://csc.protee-united.com/entries/22265191-Extra-settings-in-settings-pgs-file
          I use measurements=Imperial
          Launch_angle_limit=True as ZMax suggests.

          From the settings suggestions and explanations:

          Launch_angle_limit=True

          Enable (True) or disable (False) the launch angle limits for the Vertical Camera. When enabled the settings V_cam_fallback, V_cam_min_ball_speed and V_cam_ignore_wedges will be used.

            Thank you guys. I haven't noticed any problems with it set to False but will change it to True and see what the results are.

              Finally got it working pretty well. Zmax helped me figure this out.

              I moved my camera from the right side to the left (behind right handed golfer) and this got rid of reflections off the club shaft and head. But it still would fault on high loft shots.

              I sent Zmax captures and it worked fine on his system. He suggested I change V_cam_max_angle to be a small number (I had it set to 70 which is supposedly its max value) and see if it caused the same problem with lower loft shots and it did. Then I ramped its value up to 55 and it suddenly started working for higher loft shots. So if anyone else has a problem like this, try playing with V_cam_max_angle and do not just set it to the max value, set it to something more reasonable. I think 55 is a high enough angle for play.

              Many thanks.

                    Just had a nice round with Bubs. On the first hole, my sand shot flew the green. Decided to check out the Vcam. Turns out high shots above 45 were being detected as "faults". When this happens, the bunker penalty does not work. I had this exact problem a while ago. Uninstalling and reinstalling the latest interface fixed the problem.

                      Had to take some time off from golf for a while and sim has had little use . Wanted to get things up and running again and when I went to v-cam to check for any camera movement I no longer see the red box to get the ball into. I think I remember someone having that problem back on the ottawa forum, does anyone know the problem. I do see the overlay file .

                          What pt method are you using? Some of them did away with the red box

                            pt method? is that something I can change in setting file? I am year behind , still using version 2.9 something.

                              yes, I would suggest to update everything. Read the protee thread. There are several updates. Not too mention the biggest one TGC.
